I bought few links for my real estate sites and I get from 27 to 3 place(not for 'real estate' of course).

    What are your experience?

it depends on the quality and relevance of the site, and the linked site

Rank of site with links and if it is same topic or different one. Paid links i see sites come and go after awhile so the major directories are best way to go in my mind.

Seems like contextual links are the way of the future as directory links may help, but not have as much of an impact as they do now. If you can get your link in the middle of nice article or blog related topic its very nice for the long run. Both grouped together is prolly best by covering all the directories slowly at the same time while finding blogs and articles to have your website listed on.

I think the combo of both are one way of the future, but there are many others. But having those can get you ranked without having too much to do to find other sites to link to you from.

Well it all depends on how many sites are out there like yours, and how many links you buy. I suggest buying link on high PR sites.

If you're looking for traffic you might consider buying a banner instead.

I was talking in shortcuts :)
Buying link -> higher page rank -> more visitors from SE

But probably, I should wait longer :/

I spent $50 in one week period on word clouds for my keyword.

Went from page 3 - [32], to page 1 [1] (Yup, #1 result now), after they all got indexed. Google moves me around a bit, but I am always #1 or #2, and my domain doesn't even contain the keywords.

Word clouds are a great use of money for low budget users, and they are always availible in the link sales forum of digitalpoint.

You can get PR2's for a quarter, and PR3/4's for under a dollar.

I started my own to also help my sites. Because I love DP, I sell links for any keywords with free color for $0.50 each. (PR3 + PR2).

    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?p=2571851

I don't mean to use this as an advertising place, just to help people build links. If you do not want me to post my examples, I can easily delete them, but I figure I can help some people out, and I do not make any profit from these current two anyway.

PR will not boost your rankings :D

Toolbar PR is just a group of green pixels in toolbar ;)

Links from relevant sites from text, those natural will give you rankings.

WTH? I am number 1 to number 100. What you ask? Yep I own them all for different keywords.
You see, sentences like "I am #1 result now" are useless unless you mention the competition, the number of results returned and a bunch of other paramters.
Heck, I am number 1 for a lot of things without a single inbound link, just because google crawls the hell out of some sites of mine and because they have a decent trust.
So how many Millions of Visitors are you getting for that phrase? Or is it just a small trickle. Try getting on the first page for a highly competitive term.
Sometimes I am amazed what brings me traffic and I am even more amazed finding that the only place linking there is my own navigation.

Bottom line: What you said is no proof that word clouds do anything but litter the internet.

EDIT: Here I am all talking and suddenly I realize you are just plugging your own word cloud sites. You probably don't even believe what you wrote. Oh well.

I have bought few more links and I'm first on some other keywords.

    Best keyword - 7 000 000 sites indexed, few PR5, PR4 - my is PR3 and I'm first - PR DOESN'T METTER! Buy relavant links.

wordclouds might get you there but there surely not going to hold you there. it can't get much more spammier then 99 irrelevant links stacked one on top of the other.
