I have a site about three months old not sure but maybe im still in the sandbox. Im doing great SEO work on the site and the last 2 weeks im in and out constantly.

I went from 7th page on google to no where to be found 4 times in the last month. Im sure it will come back but its very frustrating.

Last time i went up to 3rd page for the last 3 days. I havent changed anything on my site to annoy google. Anyone else seeing this.

Yep. I see it every day. Welcome to Google!! That's just how it is.

Keep getting backlinks with targetted anchor text. And cross your fingers. And maybe sacrifice a chicken...

    Welcome to the Google roller-coaster!
it's normal to have those ups and downs.. as your site ages, it will slow down and stabilize, but it will never stop completely..

Thats not true. You can own sites that don't do that. There are thousands of sites who don't move anywhere during updates. The key is your quality factor. If you got a lot of low quality trashy links, links pages, recip links you will lose rankings. I don't use those types of links.

i'm not talking about updates.. I'm referring to the common, everyday fluctuations in SERPS caused by your competitor's changes, etc..

It can be a competitor getting the best of you but alot of times that is an update. Google updates all the time. They are continually adding new factors, disvaluing current factors and removing factors. That is the main cause of fluctuation

I think we should say goodbye to crappy directory submitters!
They will cause websites to been seen as spam, and then dropped.

Great. I'll be sure and submit all of my competitor's URLs to every crappy directory I can find. :)

I was keeping my site on google by changing a few words on the main page every week. I forgot this week so now I have to wait for it to get crawled again or something.

i had a site coming on the 3rd page on Google. Then i carried out a heavy link building campaign using those keyphrases (on which it was ranking on 3rd page) for the site. I came on the first page and it remained there for a week or two, but then it came down back to 3rd page. And it is falling 1 or 2position down since then. How can i stop this trend. I have already stopped the link campaign. Will i ever be back again on the first page.
