Selling Warez should not be allowed

Hi,
I see lot of warez site for sale in Sites section and infact they are using nulled/illegal version of vbulletin, ipb too.I think this should not be allowed.

I agree about the illegal forum software.

 

Mods can't monitor all the threads posted on the BST. TOPS30 already suggested this before.

Use the report button.

Ya thats always necessary for such a great and clean DP forum..
But it will be hard for mods to review each and every site.

 

Forget using it behind the scenes. There are people who openly support warez and illegal pieces of digital products openly on this forum without any fear and people support them to. You can always use the Report button and report the thread and the user to the mods , I am sure they will take the right decision

 

Tell me! And i will give them RED i done it so many time before i question all of them all the time and asking them what product they are selling. I will add you guys in my PM list and when ever i see a new seller i will PM and we can all give them HELL RED

The mods does not stop it beaucase they do not know it is up to the members us!

No, it is allowed to sell warez site because even members are interested in these types of sites and thread titles are like
Selling huge warez forums with 20,000 members etc.I know how to report and when to report!.............

Actually, don't report them because there is no way for us to know what is warez and what isn't.

Just think about it for a second.

They will never be able to.

So the answer to the OP's suggestion:

We agree but can't do anything about it besides closing the BST area.

In the end of the day, we are unable to judge cross-border intellectual property rights on a voluntary basis. That makes the suggestion end of story.

If you are sure, you may Red Rep them in a bid to ultimately take away their trading rights here on DP. Or you may of course contact the authorities/original owner who can then get a court order to Shawn so he can remove it.

I don't think there is legally anything wrong with sites about warez.

That would make sites about black hat seo illegal too. Or sites that display info about how to effectively kill someone or how to make poison.

Any rules we have needs to be enforcable. If we can't enforce it within reason, it will never become a rule. That means there will always be stuff certain members don't like.

Say we made a rule "you may not sell sites that promote warez". Where do you draw the line? Define a 'site that promotes warez'. It involves mods having to dig through the site and read its contents in their spare time. It's fuzzy and hence a rule that creates more headache to mods than order to the board IMO.

 

No i agree we should self moderate it. It is very easy if you have a nice green line people tend to listen and they close the post by them self or they get kicked out. Countless post during this month i have closed down and the more green i get the more power i have, kind of like the HULK heheh

You can, but we can't do anything with it as explained above so you might as well not report it.

 

most warez sites/forums dont actually host illegal files on there server, they link to it and nothing more.
This in my opinion is not illegal, and he or she should be able to sell such a site/forum here.
People who buy it, more often then not buy it for its traffic and community members not its content.
I brought a warez forum a short while ago with over 10,000 members soon as i purchased it i set it to offline and just kept sending out emails advertising a few of my sites (legal) - the users cant complain, they are the ones that are registered on an illegal site

 

I agree that the mods should not do anything about it, I also agree it really hurts profits for me when some dip goes and posts that "800 PHP scripts" style pack witch is full of nulled scripts, HOWEVER I do think if a user has 3 I-trader reds saying warez script (aka let the ones who don't care be happy), and the moderator sees, it could do with a temp ban from BST.

 

If you see anybody selling warez or mp3 or master resell with no resell or fonts, pictures with no rights please let ME know i will HULK them down to the post is closed. I will also tell the MODS if they breake any forum laws like calling Shawn a moran like one did. Most of them actully thank me for telling them but sure some give me red as well

 

Just stay away if you don't like the thread.

It's the buyer's responsibility to do their homework if they think its illegal.
