I would have sold. But that is based on years of business experience.

I think I would have been like him at 17 and not fully understood the benefits or how to leverage the money into other projects.

Hopefully he will still be a success and not lose later on.

My sites are making much more than 2,500 pounds a month. I wish someone would offer me 8.5 millions pounds for them. :D

You just summed up exactly what I was thinking.

    Main URL a PR2, landing page a PR0, forum a PR 1. 112 members, 108 active members. LOL WTF?

Crap URL, sharpnews.co.uk would have been better but the extra e makes it a turkey IMO.

Total crap, maybe The Sun were desperate for a story because I cannot see any way in the world that it's worth 8 mil.

I just put it up against a site that me and my partner bonzer created 4 weeks ago for hen nights, stag nights and parties called www.bookmethatnight.com and we are pissing it for both backlinks and PR prediction. :D

Fook knows what is going on here? Who offered the 8 mill?

89 million hits in 18 months but still PR2 with just under 600 backlinks. I smell a rat here.

But you have to remember it is from The Sun, easily the worse newspaper in the UK so maybe they were struggling for a story and threw this guy into the frame. :p

I think this kid really has a lot of plans about his site that is why he's not interested in selling it. But I think $40 million is already good for me.

i just visited the website, and the most recent news is 4 months old.
So basicly the Sun news story is total crap and not true!

And if i remember good sharp is famous world company for electronics and stuff. and here is the trademark on the website: © 2007 Sharp Electronics (UK) Ltd. All rights reserved. So i it's not even owned by that kid.
Hah what a scam by the Sun

The kid is CRAZY !!! His site is crap ... who else really is going to offer him more than 8 million for that website .... ?

Just think what sort of website the BBC could make themselfs for 8 million...

This kid is going to cry one day and regret this shit !

Almost everyone on here could make a site better than that .. with a higher PR , Better SEO , etc...

The internet is developing alot faster than his website .... i dont think he will be able to keep up while working at comet and without some big investments.

I seriously doubt the validity of his claims; seems to me that he's just fed the media a trumped up story and they bought it - extra traffic for him (although the Daily Mail actually posted the wrong address)

If, by some bizarre chance, it is legit; then he will likely live to regret his decision if it was indeed based on the reasons he stated in the Daily Mail article - he wants to keep it running himself as he's against old people writing for young people; pretty soon he'll be that old guy himself; and even if he "employs" young writers, the whole gig will still be being run by an "old guy".

Curiously, whois shows that the domain was created in October 05
