5000 uniques a day, only $30 a day - getting desperate

I'm getting a bit desperate.
I've worked hard over the last 12 months to build a decent site for free football games, but can't get more than $30 a day from it.

The hard work paid off and I have managed to get my traffic up to 5000 unique visitors a day with an average of 30k pageviews a day and I even hit number one in google for my keywords in some territories.

What have I done to improve:
CTR: - played a lot with add placements to see what performs best. currently get a CTR of 2%-5% which I have been told is good for a gaming site.

CPC: - this has dropped to an average $0.03-$0.04 per click. Not sure how I can improve this.

epc: currently hit an alltime low of $1

Any ideas what I could do to improve my earnings (hoping to pay my university fees with Adsense or anything else)

What type of football? The real one, the one actually played with feet - also known as soccer - or the one played by brutes where actually little skill is required with big burly men dressed in mountains of protective gear. Either way, you can't really expect big cpc on sports sites.

 

Can you share your url so that we can take a look and give our opinion?

 

Make another site about a different topic. I think some sites can top out no matter what you do they are not going to make the big bucks. Keep that site be happy with the 30 bucks and start a new site with a different theme.

i got around 2k unique daily and i got around 15$, so well, 5k with 30$ is great . go for 10k per day if possible

also try to diversify your porfolio i.e. get more sites.

i second the notion of trying Kontera.. with 5,000 uniques per day you can probaly add another $10-$20 to your daily earnings.

 

i think not good. i received daily 1000 uniques and i get 10$ - 15$ for this. i think your site keywords are not good. maybe you can try to block low paying keyword sites.

 

which is better, kontera or intellitxt?

 

I havnt tried intellitxt, but i can tell you that Kontera is VERY good.. not as good as Adsense, but far better than everything else i've tried.

Doesnt hurt to try it.

LOL, you lawn fairies can be so funny some time. And don't give me this crap about it being the "most popular" sport in the world. No one cares about in America and that's all that matters.

 

Honestly. I have played both in my lifetime and the amount of skill required to play soccer doesn't even compare to the vast athletic abilities one needs to play American football. First off no one cares about soccer in America. In 95% of highschools in America, the only people who play a soccer are the kids who are not big enough for the football team. No one watches soccer; no one cares about it and that's how it has always been. Now don't make the arguement of "well you only say you dont care because team America is bad." If America had all their top athletes wearing shinguards, they would field one of the best teams in the world. Other countries should be so happy they still have one sport America doesn't dominate in. Even if America had the #1 team in the world, the average American still wouldn't care.

 

I love soccer but its my second sport after cricket. But you have to be kidding to tell me soccer is not the most popular sport in the world. Virtually, the whole world loves it with the exception of the US. I don't think it will be too long before America also caves in to its charms.

 

He never said soccer is not the most popular sport in the world, he was referring to America, where it is not popular at all. I don't think America will ever accept soccer as they do football, basketball or baseball. I believe the rest of the world will be wearing shoulder pads and baseball mitts before that ever happens.

you ever hear of rugby? compare rugby to american football! now theres a real game much more violent than american football and none of them adverts every few minutes!
