    Just curious.

Do you charge a flat rate for PPC management or do you charge a percentage (5%) of the total budget

I charge a flat rate, for a 'reasonable' keyword/phrase management

If they want a heck of a lot more, I'll raise the price

As a PPC management firm, is there more work out there than you can handle? Or is it flooded with PPC management firms?

There are plenty of people out there who are able to manage a PPC account. It is hard, but once somsone gets the hang of it, it's pretty easy.

    I charge a flat rate.

To answer your question, for a good SEM firm there's more work than they can handle right now both in the U.S. and in Europe.

All you have to really do is search google for pay per click management and look at other sites. Most charge 15% of the clients budget but then there are just about as many who charge a flat fee.

There are tons of variations and combinations that you can come up with when using a flat monthly fee. For clients with smaller budgets, it's pretty much useless to charge 5% or 10% of $100.

You have to decide what method will be affordable but still put money in your pocket.

    Regards,
    Chris

I charge a 10% PPC management fee with a minimum payment of £50 ($100) a month. This seems to be quite common but I'd be interested in hearing how well charging a flat rate works, perhaps more effective for attracting clients with larger PPC budgets and deterring those who spend a smaller amount?

Some clients prefer a fixed rate mangement fee because they believe a percentage of spend encourages agencies to focus on increasing spend to increase their own revenue, rather than being ROI driven.

    Price, shmice.

I think the key question to ask an SEM firm in determining *what price is worth paying* is "Describe how you propose to optimize my Google AdWords campaigns despite the fact that AdWords bid landscape is opaque."

Firms that don't have a good answer to that question should be shown the door regardless of whether they're charing 1%, 15%, $1 or $10000.
