Microsoft attacks on Google

    hey friends

Microsoft attacks on Google, saying that the search giant's rival book-scanning service "systematically violates copyright".Google plans to scan millions of books and journals from libraries around the world and make them available.
However, Microsoft lawyer Thomas Rubin will say in a speech that by doing this without seeking permission, Google has left itself wide open to the accusation of copyright infringement.

don't take it out of context, Google is allowing small parts, maybe 5 pages out of an 800 page book available. Its the same thing Amazon and other online book sellers do without permission. How is it different from me going into barnes and noble and reading two chapters before buying.

I don't know what the complaint is because its going to help us find books that were otherwise hidden and forgotten.

Publishers would make a fortune if they would only work with modern technologies.

if i could find books by searching, i might go out and buy it.

Digital books are the way forward.

wo wo, wait a minute there, Microsoft! Why the hell do you care? ;)

It ruin's Mic's image to just say stuff about another company when it's none of their business. I don't see Microsoft publishing books or journals.

Microsoft did not think of it first that is the only reason they are attacking .... it is no different from amazon or the reviews / extracts you read in magazines or newspaper
