blogger nav bar - how to hide it?

Anyone knows how to hide the nav bar at the very top of blogspot?

I put the code for the beta version, and it works fine, but not the new blogger.

I wonder if its legal/allowed to get it off .

 

A lot of people choose to remove it and I've never heard of anyone getting into trouble for it. Blogger are fairly easy going when it comes to content and formatting your template.

 

Removing the navbar is probably against some remote Terms of Service I can't currently find. However, what I usually do is hide it using CSS but if you hover over the location it reappears, just in case someone wants to use it.

Add this code to your <style /> section:

#navbar-iframe{opacity:0.0;filter:alpha(Opacity=0)}
#navbar-iframe:hover{opacity:1.0;filter:alpha(Opacity=100, FinishedOpacity=100)}

I find the search feature quite useful, so I leave it most of the time, but hide it unless you hover.

Note: if you are using FTP through Blogger, you can simply turn the navbar off through the template controls. Look for the control that changes the COLOR of the navbar and you will see an "off" choice.

 

navbar has a search box in your blog, i think its a good reason not to remove it

What a crazy idea! I've actually been thinking of doing this for a little while. So I viewed source on the blog page and found the right <table /> row with the search box and trimmed it and now we have.... *drum roll*

I stripped out the table elements and the FLAG BLOG link. Because I believe in spreading the blog-love to other bloggers, I left the "Next Blog" link intact, but you could strip it out. Note that the form action URL is different if you are not hosting with Blogspot. You can also customize the <input /> image tag with any number between 1-4.

Add this code to your template anywhere you would like it.

 

i think you can also directly delete it in the page elements if you are using the new blogger.

 

I found a better way to hide/remove the Blogger navbar. Its not just about getting rid of it, it also lets you to later reveal it again. I find it pretty useful since there a quite handy tool in that head bar you're trying to get rid of.

I wanted to come back here and mention something in regard to the SEARCH code I posted above. The search images that I suggested using are no longer available. Blogger had been using search images in their form, but at some point they updated this to be a text link for this form, although they use some mid-level CSS to make it look pretty much the same.

But this and the other color versions are no longer at that URL. They may simply have been moved, but I can't find their new location. With this in mind, I suggest updating to another image. I found this image that looked like what I wanted to use, and just uploaded it to a blog and then added it to my template.

It would be possible to modify the search to be a standard form button rather than an image, but I like the image and don't have much time to make changes to my code.
