    How does one check to see if they have set up a SiteMap corectly so google bots can browse it correctly

    You won't get validation from google... Then you ought to rearrange the contents and again submit it. The best way is using free sitemap generators available online.

    When you log-in to your google sitemap account, there google tells you if your sitemap has been validated or not seen under column Site Varified?.

    I use phpSitemapNG and it works perfectly every time. If your URL's are listed, chaces are it's right.

    Its very simple goto google sitemap section submit your XML sitemap, after 30 min again visit and see the status if google say OK in status column it means your your site dont have any error.Otherwise you need to resubmit. You really need not to do the validation ..google will do.
