Start building those links to gain traffic. Post in forums related to your site, with a link to your site in your signature file. Write articles about subjects related to your site, and submit them to article directories with a link to your site in the resource box. Exchange links with other sites. Submit your site to SEO friendly link directories. Everything I've mentioned so far is free. There are plenty of paid methods you can use if you want to spend the money. I personally can't afford to spend money on advertising.
I admit, once you are on the first page then it is great. But getting there is almost impossible. FFMG
And then a week goes by and your site is back to where it started...unless of course you have some revolutionary idea/website
