Hypthetical question... What if you were given an opportunity to talk to google engineers 1 to 1 for an hour. What would you ask them? The way pages seem to be dropping out of the index for "no reason" sometimes? The 302 redirect issues that are [still] ongoing? Different filters for commercial and non-commercial, and what they entail? What would you ask - and still expect to get answers back... I know you must all have a few questions that you're dying to find out answers for...
Sorry - I should clarify (Although I'd like to know the answer to that too)... Questions about the Google Natural Search. Not PPC - Not Adsense. Just organic search.
Yes SE, I was talking about search too. There are sites that appear high in the serps that when you look at G´s guidelines have absolutely no reason to be there. Not jealous really, I´d just like to know why some sites get away with it and others get dumped.
Presumably when Froogle is out of Beta and promoted, will commercial documents be available through the regular index at all?
Hypotethically speaking of course... When will we get the answers? Q: What's up with the cache rolling back and forth that often? Q: Are links from Directories (pages with many outgoing links and little content) worth anything at all in terms of link-pop/PR? Q: AdWords ranking being based on relevancy as determined by the natural listing ranking mechanism is unfair since you deny new documents a fair chance of ranking well. This is costing your advertisers lots of money. When are you going to cut the ties between the so-called sandbox and PPC?
And please put to rest the following: Do sitewide links hurt or help a site or are they ignored/greatly devalued. Is there any credit for relevant outbound links (I have found that there is, though have been blown off for saying so before. Are link networks like LV safe and acceptable or will you catch up with that one day and blow us all out the water?
I'll throw in a couple... What would Google class as "Legitimate" ways of building backlinks? Can you ban a competitor by linking to them?
What would I ask a Google engineer? Future plans and concepts they are considering applying to the index. I guess a few things to that extent are already pretty discernable, but it's the "how" of the application, as much as the "what".
I wonder if they would answer that? Oh, and another one - How much will DP rep effect my rankings for competitive terms in Google?
Why are results so different when applying the "unfiltered trick" such as: "Keyphrase as it I am and...etc"
I would ask why they don't turn up thier efforts on putting the most relevant items up front. They have enough data to find reiprocal link traders...note that most people have pages with tons of tell tale text explaining the system...and find similarities among pages, like mine using php templates, and discredit the duplicate parts and focus on unique content.
I'm not too sure what you mean. That's the whole point - delivering good results. Also, why would they penalise people using php? That's like half of the net.
What is your core algorthm.. But seriously, I would probably ask why they treated 302's the way they did.. I would really like to know their reason for this. It seems to me it doesn't take a PHD to figure out that site a's redirect to site b is not part of site b and should not replace site b at all.
Do links have a aging filter? Are sitewide links counted as one link or as a bunch of links? Does pagerank still matter and if so as for what? How does the ranking work for search images? Does pagerank influence the number of indexed pages? What determines the number of indexed pages? Does age of the website have any importance on your rankings? Are websites ranked according to the location of the webhost? Why do i see spikes in traffic once, twice a month for main keywords i target? How does the indexing process work? Spider visits, Everflux etc., full indexing. When will we be able to search in 3d?
