I'm not a member of the $10 club and don't have a hardtime finding an answere to my needs. I currently own 3 phpLD 3.1 licences and a buncha 2.1 version and 1 other directory scripts.

For some reason you can't get me to download PHPLYnx...WHY, what are you doing wrong here. Is it the Gorilla Marketing?

The Lynx script can be downloaded both on the web site and on the forums, thanks.

Try phpld 2.1 for free, but for 25 $ you can have the 3.x version.

Paid scripts are always better than the free ones, the same way as windows is better for end-users than linux.

I recommend phpmydirectory - www.phpmydirectory.com if you want to build a quality business web directory.

    Good luck!

eSyndiCat gets my vote, I love that friggin script! They have a new version in beta stage I hear as well... Exciting. I am still waiting for them to come out with a blog/directory integrated solution - then that script will have my vote, hehe

the latest version 2.1. of esyndicat is very buggy and I can't recommend it to anyone with out php knowledge. Anyway if I got to choose phpld or esyndicat I will always go for the later one just because the features that work make it better than phpld.

I have used PHPLD V.20 and Site Sift V.1.20

I don't know how someone can be saying such good things about Site Sift because it's the most limiting and cumbersome admin panel I"ve ever seen. I"m already looking to see if I can export it it to something else. Everytime you edit or delete a submission it sends you back to the main page. Submissions quickly become incredibly time consuming. Not sure if it has alot of mods or if the new version is ALOT better but this one is prehistoric.

That being said PHPLD 1.2 isn't anything great either. It has no search function and you can't mass delete or approve posts. It does have alot more functions than site-sift but as I said site-sift has almost nothing. PHPLD I can also see as a problem. I'm sure there are mods but it's still a dated system.

I am considering getting a custom scripted joomla CMS. Managing ALOT of content is a breeze so you can work on your business not IN it. It's perfect for a directory along with rating, comments and a host of other functions and unlimited scalability.
