Sometimes ads are not displayed by google or they display a public service ads. You can specify other ads to display so that you don't lose money on those empty impressions. But im not sure if thats allowed with adsense.
As Fryman so eloquently suggests, it might be a good idea to read the manual.. PS: Let me know what you find out hehe Cheers, JL
I don't think google minds if you put your own ads up, but they might not like you using a competetors ad network. anyway, i'll read through the policy and post my findings.
Actually it reads as alternative ads to be displayed.. I think it is pretty clear that it is okay to use other ad networks to fill those spots. At least that is how it read to me.
true but i think the tos says something about not using look alike (which i get to mean clicksor/adbrite or others) this is just off the top of my head.... anyway I wouldn't hard code a competitor in my AdSense ... that's why i suggested putting your ad server addy.... course all in all it probably doesn't matter.
TOS says not to use look-alikes on the same page as Adsense, so if you replace an AS unit when it's the only one on the page then it's ok. "Web pages", "on the same page as Google ads" -> it's ok to put look-alikes, just not on the same page! Cheers!
Somewhere in another recent thread someone posted a link about using AS and Adbrite. Apparently is you disable the Run of Network option in Adbrite then you do not get contextual ads and that is acceptable. Something like that anyway. Do a search on DP for Adbrite and you should find the thread.
