I've just been looking over my monthly webstats and suddenly realised that i'd had two hits from DMOZ (good times). So i went over to DMOZ and did a search for my site... i couldn't find it.

Needless to say i was rather confused as to how i had got two hits even though my site did appear to be listed. So i went to the category i had submitted to and there it was... my listing.

Is there a fault in the search function on the site?

My site is the Voisd Webmaster Directory - i did a search for 'voisd' and it didn't return any results...

    Any ideas?

Give it a few more days - the search db is separate and usually updated a few days later. Use voisd.com when you search. congrats on the listing.

Thanks for the info CReed - its taken a good couple of years to get listed, but im in the eventually, lets hope my newish general directory gets the same treatment (although i doubt it).

Now i suppose the question is how will getting listed effect my site? Will it mean more traffic (i mean i've had two hits), will it mean more sales, or will it simply mean a potential increase in SERPs or PR?

The 2 hits might have been me

As far as traffic, rankings and sales, you'll have to tell us in due time. I'm sure it'll increase your PR, but no more than a similar link from somewhere else; which might not be substantial enough to reflect a change on the toolbar. ;)

Huh !! My friend if this is the real intention maybe you could go to Resource Zone and read some FACTS over there.

2 things when I was editing I click the sites to be reviewed in the Unreviewed and certainly will appear on awstats that an editor took a glimpse but this does not guarantee a listing. But if you say your site is listed my deepest Congratulations.

    Best.

Right at the bottom of the search results page it says
We are still recovering from the perfect crash last year and we haven't been able to update the search database since then. It will be fixed in time but we can't predict by when. The directory itself is being updated all the time of course.

Sorry, would you mind just clarifying what a 'perfect crash' is?

What happened to DMOZ can not have been a perfect crash -- they came back. :)

So technically a perfect crash means your website is doomed?

Have you heard of the movie The Perfect Storm? It's a take off on that - where all the things you hope never happen combine to make the one perfect opportunity for the worst to happen.

Yep I love a movie were main character actually doesn't make it, but then this movie is based on true event so it would look very silly if Clooney used toothbrush to save the ship (well if they used Richard Dean Anderson instead of Clooney he would have saved everyone!). :D

Just because you've seen or read about the movie that doesn't mean everyone has. Otherwise I don't think the question would have come up.

True, not everyone is aware of the power of my Voodoo magic! If annie didn't beg me entire time DMOZ was down I would have never lifted the curse. :D
