Backlinks that Google shows

As we all know Google doesn't show all backlinks to a particular domain & I have always wondered about the ones that Google does show.

Are they the most relevant, most quality, highest PR, the oldest links or....?

Any thoughts?

 

Ive looked before but cant put my finger n teh criteria.

 

Google only shows the most powerful links which point to your site, the age and pr matter do not matter.

 

I don't think they rank the links in any significant order.. they now show most of the links in the sitemap account.

 

Google is serving up a limited number of backlinks in no particular order. Yahoo, on the other hand, generally serves up links in order of strength & value.

 

google gives more weighes back links rather than other things

 

i have always thought that google shows the most poweful backlinks, but i really have no idea.

 

Google show less backlinks because they give priority to trusted site. And I think that backlinks also update every three months thats why we think that they show less backlinks. Not like the other search engine like yahoo and MSN they update the backlinks every day.

 

I am not sure how does Google rank those inbound links. Or are they ranked at all?

BTW, I am happy with what Google shows in Google Webmasters. It's more comprehensive than the link: tool.

 

Google is just slow in updating...IMO they only shows those quality and trusted sites...

 

Ya like PR google updates backlinks also evry 2-3 months and later shows more backlinks ,yahoo updates backlinks as soon as it index i think

 

Google shows the backlinks from the sites that have PR 4 or higher.

 

May I ask where you got that one?

The links: command is NOT RANKED AT ALL. They are totally random links. The webmaster sitemaps now has a links tool which shows nearly all your backlinks in Google.

 

It will cost you $5,000 to learn the answer. Googles new backlink to tool is pretty good but it still needs some work.

Yes that is my site and sounds good. But even if it does show up it proves nothing. If it is random there is a chance it will show up.

 

If you are building links (which I hope you are doing in order to make that forum a little more powerful) then what are the chances that one link from one my sites will show up? Maybe it will only show because that link is in fact powerful in the eyes of google.
