I just noticed this today. Why did this happen and do you think it will have any broader effects on the article sharing community? I searched for a thread related to this before posting and couldn't find one, so please ignore this if it's been discussed.
I mentioned this in the PR update forum. Although their PR has gone to 0, they are still ranking the same / similar to what they were before. So it is most probably a glitch on Google's part or maybe Ezinearticles had some site problems when the update was happening. Anyway, my Articles Directory has nicely gone back to it's usual ways and has got a PR5 again.
if you are checking with www , it shows pr 0 but if you check without www , you will see that it's pr 6 . http://livepr.raketforskning.com/?u=ezinearticles.com
Even if they lose the rankings now, with so many people using ezinearticles, I think it'll still go back up. though I am wondering myself what's going on with rankings. It's been the talk for days in SEO forums.
They are losing page rank ( only 15 out of 89 google servers show it is pr6 ). Anyway, i believe their traffic won't be effected.
Thats a bummer that they're losing PR since that was my only PR6 link so far. Oh well. What do you figure is diluting their PR?
It could be because most of their site has duplicate content that is also one hundreds of other sites. I could be wrong though, so I would also like someone to confirm this.
I don't think it will ever go back to PR6 when looking at the domain using www The reasons for this is because if it is a PR6 not using the www in the domain name then EzineArticles has wanted it this way I would have guessed. Why would they want their PR to be shared with both the www domain and also the non www domain.
whoa, I never noticed this on my tool bar. Probably because I always went to ezinearticles.com instead of putting www in front of it. I don't know what this could mean but ezinearticles is by far where my articles get the most views and traffic
Also interesting - I see only 269 pages left in Google's index doing a site command. Duplicate content filter action I assume. Christoph
That's odd. I have just checked and their articles are still ranking the same as always. So their rankings have not changed at all.
These article directories are now just SPAM spots. Everyone thinks submitting articles to these free article directories will increase traffic and is good SEO practice but its not. What its really doing is killing these places slowly... Google is smart enough to know the difference between a SPAM article and real content. Article submission to these types of sites are a complete waste and have been for years. Maybe 3 years ago backlinks from these sites would have helped but not anymore. The only thing that keeps ezinearticle having high rankings is its age.
Yep. Spammers killed article submission a few years back. People thinking you can submit 1 article to 500 sites and get 500 inbounds. Spammers. Google has taken action against them. Only a few, good, article directories are left. And those are the ones that will remove content that has been spammed out everywhere online. I was doing article submissions before most people even thought about it. I realized quite a while ago that it was full of spam now. And I don't do it nearly as much now.
