    Hi there,

I am a relitive newbie when it comes to SEO and I am still learning the ropes so please be patient with me!

I want to submit my site to the top search engines (google, yahoo, msn etc) and was wondering what is the best way to do this?

    dude,

The easiest way to do this is to get some links pointing to you from well indexed sites or directories. This way, the crawlers will "discover" you themselves. ( Here is a good place to start, http://strongestlinks.com/directories.php). Next submit directly to Google, Yahoo!, and MSN. You can search for "submit url google", "submit url yahoo", and "submit url msn". Go only to the actual MSN, Google, and Yahoo url submit pages, not some rip-off "we will submit you 1 million websites" website. Hope that helps!

Personally I never submitted my site directly to the search engines. Instead I got high PR links pointing back to my site (through article writing and forum posting mostly) and had my site indexed that way.

    That's just me though.

What if you want to link a adult based content site? Most article-sites don't accept these sites?!

Persoanlly submitting your site to search engines is a waste of time.

Submitting your site to SEO friendly directories is a great idea. Or even better, pay someone to do it. It's a long and boring task...

Then start building links. You can do that by hand or hire a company that will build links for you. The choice is yours.

    Hi,
Searching the search engine is a mere waste. You ought to make the search engine to search your site. The top five best ways to get good links are submitting your site to article writing, relevent forum posting signatures, social bookmarking, link building manually by contacting the related site webmaster (although boredom job) and Directory submissions.

Submitting your site is not a good idea, rather let bots find your site themselves, but as said above getting backlinks and using good content.
