How google ranks websites?

    Hi,

I have been reading loads of stuff regarding SEO and how to rank better in google , H1 tags, contents, backlinks etc..

I was just looking through the top 20 for the keyword "computer help" to see what these sites where doing/how popular they are etc compared to mine which ranks about 110 in the list :(

Now a couple of the sites that ranked in the top 20, had low link popularity, of about 1500, 3000 and low index pages of around 550.. yet my own site have 15000+ pages indexed, and link popularity of 40000+ ranks way down in the 100's..

Why do these sites rank so highly? am i dont something very wrong? Just wondered if anyone had any pointers :)

    thanks

Try to get related links to your site, preferably less than 10 out bound links on the page & a nice PR.

You also have to take into affect how long has your competition be up? How old is their site? How old are their links.

Just to prove a point.... www.kcprinting.com has been up since 1997 and he has about 100 links. He ranks #1 for real estate notepads.

Look at how everything is old school and not optimized.... And he ranks....

Point of the story is that an old website can have a monopoly over newbies in the industry.

If you get stuck let me know...

If you have quality links and an old domain name with PR you are golden :)

You must concentrate on quality unique content and quality links.
If you have less authority links and a lot of spammy links you can be lowered on google.
