Hi, I own a forum and as you will know or maybe not it is very hard to market a forum but i tested out a new feature i added for the members and i have increased traffic to my site within 3 hrs. I got an immediate 29 guests to the forum just by tagging my thread it also generated more click-throughs on my thread signature. I have attached traffic stats here to take a look at. You will see traffic before the 5th Feb is low but from the 6th of Feb at 8pm i tagged 3 thread i did this also yesterday and today and the test was a success just look at the image to see the difference. Has anyone else had success with tagging share with me your stories.
The way my traffic increaed in 3hrs is i did the tagging at 8pm GMT the last 3 nights including tonight.
I assume he means the social bookmarking icons I see on the forum posts on his sig linked forum - http://www.widewebtalk.com/showthread.php?t=7 I guess that could work for tech/news/webmaster forums - but I doubt it would be particularly successful for all forums
Hi, Tagging means tagging a site or url to social bookmark site like digg, furl etc. It is very productive in getting traffic to my site.
Sweet jesus it's like the blind leading the blind in here..... Tagging is adding keyword "tags" to posts on your blog, forum, or anything that provides a feed so that syndication sites can pick up on it and better place your link in certain categories. Using tags on high traffic words has been sort of a black hat way of getting traffic for months.... From Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tags
if you use sites like digg, delici.ou.us you will get curious visitors which will go away in a few seconds
A social bookmark site is a community site that bookmarks sites for recommendation to other users (I am sure that is correct) I have a good list of sites if you want me to send them to you pm me.
Only if you post each and every single page of your site. The deal is to post something that other people will find useful. If they finally think that you'll get thousands of visitors, but that's another story
Is this the same or comparable to adding your link in your sig when replying to post of blogs in social bookmarking sites. I am just curious if this is as effective as actually "tagging" your own blogs. Where as you can go and leave comments/feedback on many other ppls blogs. JerrSun
Doesn't help that we're not talking about tagging here at all but social bookmarking. OP uses the word tagging (which you describe accurately) when he means social bookmarking - which explains why everyone is so confused
