How much click through traffic do you get from a text link ad?

    Hello people.

I was wondering about this and I know that this is dependant on the nature of the sites and the relation between the 2 sites, but roughly speaking, if you I were to put a text link ad for my website on 1 page that gets 100 vistors per day on another website, how many should I expect to click per day?

Assume that the two websites are related in content. Example, free blogs and free hosts.

    Cheers,

2% CTR is the expected rate regardless of traffic. It will increase with good placement and attractive keywords :)

Yes, catchy copy will garner stronger click through rates. Placement of the link will also affect results. If it gets true contextual placement, you will have better results as well.

so it would be safe to say for a text link ad in a fairly good position would get an average of 2% CTR.

What about banners? Any ideas on those?

Using Contextual text links on one site poinint to antoher of my sites, I usually get up to 7% clickthru. I must admit that this is a lot higher than the usual ~2% link for a straight link, but the 2 sites are highly relevent and almost inter-dependant. When you can create a couple (or more) sites that can literally feed off each other whti a CTR of over 5%, all efforts to get visitors to any of your sites is suddenly very worthwhile - you keep traffic on your network longer and increase the chance of making revenue from each visitor.
