    "Ad" for Advertisement
"Sense" for Common Sense (I guess).

Why does everything have to have a meaning, anyway?

As I specified in begining just for mu knowledge and also everthing has a meaning nothing is done without a meaning and a big company like google cant assign anything without meaning. It would represent a bad image of them as they are a big company. It is just like killing literature.

Ads that make sense, because they are always related to the content on a page.

what is wrong with the name I think its good, in terms of a business name AD SENSE is great.

    its has an obvious meaning.

also they did not create this word other business's hav had it before them but they were to scared to fight google so they just gave it in.

Why don't you ask Google directly instead of posting here? You don't make any sense and I can't believe I wasted my time reading and replying to this thread.

lol the list can go on for ever, its basically who coined the term first.

also giving a brand the "kleenex factor" can turn a weird word into the actuall whole meaning and fraze for using a certian service or product.
