    Can some experts guide me on this;

    If I intend on getting some decent PR for say 10 diferent websites, will the end results for PR be different for the 2 different scenarios outlined below;

    1- All 10 websites hosted on the same server with the same IP address but NO interlinking between the sites.

    2- All 10 websites hosted on the same server with unique IP addresses but the same C-block, NO interlinking between the 10 sites again.

    I'm thinking of submitting say 100 articles with links to the 10 sites to something like 300 hundred different free artcile sites etc. Each of the 100 articles will have link to one site at a time ofcourse.

    Thanks!

    The PR will not be any different with either scenario. Since you are not cross linking the sites, you won't have any risk of looking like a link farm.

    so the only reason someone would go for unique IP addresses and pay extra $ for them would be to avoid being in the same pool as some spammy sites or is there more to it?
    also, wouldn't it be quite easy for someone to just go for these free hosting accounts offered by all the big and small names in the industry and just as all the sites will have different IP addresses on different C- Blocks, one could even cross-link them and gain decent PR.

    PR is 100% determined by incoming links to your site. Backlinks coming from the same IP or even class "C" do not look natural and the chances of them being a "natural" link are virtually nil and google will either ignore them or apply a link farm penalty. If there is a good reason to cross link sites, then go ahead - just don't expect google to count it as an unbiased "vote". Google is also a registrar and can check ownership of domains so cross linking sites for the purpose trying to manipulate SERPS is very risky. Using different class "C" would, in theory, lesson the risk of a red flag.

    Matt Cutts recently said that google views a person who owns one site different than someone who owns 50 sites - the reason being that they feel a person with one site is more likely to have a quality site than someone who owns 50 sites.

    Unless you are looking to increase PR in order to sell links, concentrating on PR is a waste of time. It won't help you with rankings - google is looking for links from "trusted sites" that are related to your sites sector. Far too many people spend time trying to increase PR and then wonder why their rankings never improve. Many people in the industry, including the head of ASK Search, believes google completely abandoned using PR for SERPS sometime ago.

    Getting backlinks from trusted sites will help you will SERPS. Trusted sites usually have higher PR, so your sites PR will increase, but it was the "trusted" quality link that helped your SERPS, not the PR.

    I will suggest that you do not get a backlink from all the pages. One link from the homepage seems to be ok: but links from all pages does not sound ok.
