Difference between PR 5 and PR6

Discussion in 'Google' started by ash1, Jan 31, 2007.

I know there soooo many PR4 sites, so they arent worth discussing,

but after current update, many sites have gotten a pr5. Do you think theres a big difference between PR5 and PR6?
Because sites that are very heavily used and liked and old are usually pr6, and rarely are sites pr7+

so what im asking is there a big STEPPING stone between PR5 and PR6 and will link building still be the solution to get to a PR6?

Yes, this is a somewhat large jump, but from 6 to 7 is where it's even larger. I do recommend link building....it's a surefire way to higher PR, but make sure it's legitimate, and from high-quality and high-PR sites.

Competing at the top levels is not for the faint hearted and needs commitment, but one of the needs is a sustainable back link building program and it needs to be focused

Link building is a solution, but you need lots of patience and hard work as you move up the ladder :)

they are not directly related, but logically connected..

naturally, a high PR site will be more than decent on SERP

    Difference between PR5 and PR6 is 1. ;)

To answer your questions, of course there is a big difference.

Not only does a PR6 site increase exposure because it's a PR6 (PR craze always recognizes the new ones especially with directories) it also shows the work done by the webmaster and the respect the site has from other people on the web in regards to links and link building.

I would say it's not that hard to just build PR - It's just about links. But you need the traffic also and they don't always go together

With PR, ever step is a harder one. In other words to get from PR1 to PR2 is harder than getting from PR0 to PR1 then to get from PR2 to PR3 will take more work than what it would to get from PR1 to PR2.

In other words it is like the following:

To get from PR0 to PR1 you need 20 quality backlinks
To get from PR1 to PR2 you need 100 quality backlinks
To get from PR2 to PR3 you need 300 quality backlinks
To get from PR3 to PR4 you need 800 quality backlinks
To get from PR4 to PR5 you need 2000 quality backlinks
To get from PR5 to PR6 you need 9000 quality backlinks
To get from PR6 to PR7 you need 50000 quality backlinks

The above is just an example, but as you can see it gets harder as the PR gets higher.

the difference between PR 5 and PR 6 is Trust. You need to have good quality links for your PR to go up or lots of crap links (and I mean lots).

There's a mad algo behind PR that can make it even more fickle.

Link building is the solution to everything in SEO, more or less lol

The example above was just an example of if your sites link was place on different sites that was on the same topic and had the same PR1 or PR2.

Yeah, you can get PR4 with just a few backlinks, it also depends on the quality of the backlinks pointing to your site you see. If the backlinks are of the same topic and your websites link is on a page that has a high PR then you can get a higher PR more easily with less backlins. The more the quality of your backlinks and the higher the PR that your pages link is on the better.

There are a few things that determine what PR your site will receive from the type of backlinks you get and also the quality of your site and its content. But the higher your PR gets the next stepping stone to an even higher PR gets harder.

PR is just based on links, the quantity and PR of them. It DOES get harder with each step though.

from PR0 to PR4 you will need very few bank links and the gap is narrow. Once you reach PR4 the gap between PRs is broad and hard to obtain. Higher the PR more you can get on links, advertisement etc (you should have an equivalent amount of traffic too)

To go from PR 0 to PR 6 you need sitewide links from one PR 7 site that has lots of indexed pages. I have done this before.

Isn't there a website that lists the number of PR links you need to move up to the next PR level? Anyone got the URL?
