I am already having hell lot of problems with XP and i cant tolerate any more because I know Vista wil be vulnerable to viruses at start.

I'll only buy it when I get my next computer. I've never bought a copy of Microsoft Windows standalone, always wait until I need a new system and have it bundled with the hardware.

Not to pick on Dj_Flush in particular... but this has to be the biggest thing I do not understand with the OS market...
    then they usually say...
It does not work this way in any other market. For example... after you buy a crappy Ford... DO you buy another Ford... NO... you buy another auto brand... and then Ford looses billions of dollars.

Like to know few things before i decide whether to buy or not.
    1. What is the price for Vista in India, both for upgrade and full
    2. What I have to do to get "Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor" working. It is showing error, that i cannot get connected to the server or something like that. I tried several times
    3. min system specs to vista to work well.

As an IT manager for a company who doesn't NEED it: NO, not for at least 18 months, unless security decisions dictate it.

As a personal user: Yes, but only because I saw an interview with Bill Gates who rather arrogantly told us it was the most secure OS ever. I don't believe he even acknowledges any variant of Unix !!

When my laptopt becomes out of date, I will buy a new laptop which will probably be bundled with Vista.

Not going out of my way to buy Vista.

I am very happy with xp's speed and usability. I will wait till i either buy a new computer or upgrade this one. Either way i wont be for 6 months or so. The more time i wait the less bugs remain.

Been using it for about 2 months with no issues to speak of. It is running on a new laptop and I love some of the new features. I don't really think it will be a good deal to upgrade, I would just get it with a new computer. Best to run it with 2gb of memory anyway.

Don't be so quick to jump onto the Vista wagon. There are a few things you should know about it first, principally, that Vista is more about copy-protection than user enhancements.

I do not plan on adopting Vista. If a time ever comes that XP ceases, i will re-evaluate, but will most likely choose an alternate OS.

I will also be wary of critical updates to XP to make sure they don't try to sneak its authoritarian DRM features in. You know they're gonna try...

we're going to buy it because we need to test it till exaustion, otherwise our costumers could place us in a tricky situation... :p

I did better than buy Vista. I moved from Windows to Ubuntu Linux. Screw Windows. My 64bit machine just rocks now.
