How to make Googlebot crawling my site more frequently?

Discussion in 'Search Engine Optimization' started by microtony, Jun 23, 2005.

It crawls my site every one week now.
I heard that many people made it to crawl their sites twice a day.

How many backlinks should I have in order to achieve this?

Well i cant really tell how much links you would need to get spidered each day frequently. What i do know is the more links you have the more frequently you will be visited. Get a signature link. That's a hell of a good start to begin with. ;)

Are you asking me? IF so almost each day. The most important part is to get as much links as you can. The more links the more frequent you get spidered.

I don't think you need a high PR. What I did was, I displayed a RSS feed on my main page that changes daily www.nokiaringtone.us . A week later google started visiting every 2 days. The main thing is if your content changes daily by more than 2K google will visit often., that's what I read somewhere can't remember where but it worked for me.

you need links to get your site crawled, but changing content to get it crawled frequently. Google will not keep spidering content that has not changed for some time.

    but not necessarily daily changes......
it is a combo of the pr of your links and frequency of changes. I have a site that I optomized a while back. The content only changes maybe every few months now. It still gets crawled every two days. Lots of incoming links.... PR5 and 6

    Just add additional meta tag.

    <meta name="revisit-after" content="2 days" />

Google will start to visit your siye more often.

Actually, G ignores that metatag, as do most search engines. In fact, it came about as a tag used by some obscure engine wayback, and for some reason, ppl seem to think it's valid. Kind of like Dublin Core.

Anyway, the best thing to do is what most have already said, change the content frequently on each page you want recrawled regularly, and of course, a decent PR does help.

You might also want to try Google Sitemaps (where you can tell Google which URL's to crawl, hint at how often they change, their relative importance (relative to other pages within your site) and so on. Google Sitemaps

    Cheers,

    JL

Hell yeah change that into 1 hour. More more . Since spiders have excisted i dont think this meta command was ever taken into consideration at all. Just get plenty of links. Did you add your signature in the meantime?;)

I had a site set up and 90% of the pages on the site were indexed on Google. About 2 days later, the only thing showing up on Google was my main page. Any ideas on this? Since then I have submitted a Site Map with all URLs on my site but am looking for any thoughts on what I can do to get all pages added back into Google's index.

    Thanks.
