John D seems to be really cleaning up Web Junkie's mess. There may actually be a legal aspect to this. John - I will post links to other places he is selling your script if I come across it. Hopefully your new licsence system will take care of it.

Its good to see someone coming through for people when he has no obligation to.

Make sure to post a link to your script when the new revisions are done because there may be some DP members that want to support you.

Yep, seems to me like JD has the right approach, even managing to sell the scrip on here

 

Web Junkie has been selling scripts and other items he has no right to all over the web, typical junkie behaviour .

I have deleted his posts on my Forum and banned him.
If he comes back with a new nick I am sure we will recognize him straight away.

He still IM's me once in a while, trying to sell a site with the same script for $350, saying it gets 300+ uniques.

 

Wow, horrible business ethics. I would have bought it just for the database of games at the $100 he offered if I had been around for the sale.

I'm wondering though John, I thought you could transfer the liscence if your selling your complete website? I've seen sites with gamescript before and thought about purchasing them. Whats the deal with that? I don't to buy one of these websites if its not legal.

 

I think the problem is that the webjunkie was selling the same site over and over to different people. A license is only valid for one site.

 

That is exactly right, and a few weeks down the road the new owner gets an email from the actual owner to say having that site is illegal.

John was nice enough to exempt the people who entered this agreement in good faith. Most would not be so nice.

I suspect if Web Junkie keeps it up, he will be in a heap of legal trouble. I think if he gets over $500 it turns into a felony under US Law although I'm not entirely sure about that. If people keep posting him trying to sell these scripts without a liscence, it may be time to provide his personal details to those he ripped off.

You can transfer the license but it must be verified.
The new owner will then receive a login for the new license system.

By the way I tried to post a warning with facts over at www.dnforum.com where he has taken to scamming new people but it won't let me.

They seem to have swept his transgressions under the carpet and let him continue selling (deleting posts giving facts). I guess money talks.

It should be noted again that John D's script isn't the only one affected. He has also ripped multiple DP members off in other ways. I hope he never gets banned here so he can slither in and respond at some point.

Its amazing how other forums let people take advantage of their members as long as they make a buck
