Importance of PR?

I have seen many guys says "PR is important even today" and in the support of this comment you can see tons of link sale threads and each one speaking about PR while having deal.

Other party says "Forget PR, it is none of our business to keep in mind" and in support of this comment you can see many threads people speaking PR update is going..let it be I don't care. I pay attention on serps ranking.

I thought lets have poll and give marks to "importance of PR" on scale of 10.

IMO PR is important and it is important for serps ranking. I am giving 7 marks.

how much you are giving? Please tell us the reason.

 

I am giving 3 Marks for the same.

PR has not any relation with search engine rankings of the page.

I said that serps ranking are depending on PR of backlinks and I guess PR of the page itself too.

high PR of backlinks; it means high authority is voting, so G consider it valued page.

 

Whenever you want to sell your website or links on your site everyone ask for PR of the site, so is it not important in that way?
If you selling some product on your website then it does not matter what your site PR is just you need quality traffic on your site.

 

I don't get you here. What is the relation of PR and QUALITY traffic?? I can guess relation of PR and TRUST.

i will give 4 out of 10 as far as weightage is concern for ranking.but when u want to sale the domain this is most significant factor to get high $$$.

 

I have given 7 points out of 10 to PR, but yes PR is important in some extent to creat brand name and trustworthy, I my eyes the most imp. thing is to provide imformative site with good positioning in SERPS.

This fanda will fatch you in long term.

 

I gave it 7. it is important if you want to buy/sell links , and if two websites are well optimized with good content,I guess the one with higher PR will show first.
but if the website is not optimized, even a good PR wont help much, for example I got a PR4 for the home page of my website, established 4 months ago, but it still does not show up on any results page for my keyword. ( I did not optimize the site yet, because I want to add creditcard processing before showing up).

I think PR has its own meaning and have importance at many areas and no problem creating in any area. So finally, it means...Importance of PR is quite much.

 

i will give 6 out of 10 as far as weightage is concern for ranking. when checking for my competition, they all have PR5 and rank on top 10 for my keywords, my site having PR4 rank in the 2nd page. PR to my opinion plays a good role in rankings.

I think the more competitive theme, the more valuable is PR.
Also the more authority in his niche is a site, the more valuable is his PR.

 

Ok,but when you search something on Google,don't you realize that the results on the top always have good PR?!

 

Not really, I had a site which had no PR and yet used to come in first three for the targeted keyword...may be its one of case

I think PR is kind of branding tool Google has created (like matt cuts or something) which make people more aware about google than other search engine. it also helps advertisers and link buyer to have some "feel" about the price..apart from that I am not too sure if there is any BIG relevence

 

I have given 6 marks, as the PR is good but you never know what your actual/exact PR is. However you have given an absolute value of pr for your site and pages that updates after a usual delay of like 3 months or so.

However, PR still wroth.

But have some pr is better than not IMO..at least google will crawl your site more frequently!

 

I went for don't know... theres no really way you can mark it... personal i think people are either in the view that either it is, or it isn't important!

Needless to say it obviously is important as without it people would obviously need some other way of assessing with a website is any good in the eyes of google and if its worth paying x amount to purchase advertising or links on that specific site.

At the end of the day i believe that google sets the standard - sure it might not always be accurate or fair, but in life very few things are anyways!

TBPR is nothing but a reflection of site size and backlink count (and possible age) and has nothing to do with rankings. yes PR can be passed on through links, but who cares? it doesn't mean anything!

True PR, as detailed in the original patented algo and subsequently updated does have an affect on rankings. But it is just 1 of over 100 factors that go into calculating the SERPs, hence I gave it a 0!

There are other things to concentrate on, other than PR, some of which are actually important and have an impact on the SERPs!
