    DPers:

I am back with yet another idea to get your help. I have developed a new site called Thousand Partners - http://www.thousandpartners.com . I am sharing my company with 1000 other partners. Hence the name thousand partners. I thought it would be easy to gather a group of like minded entrepreneurs with a little bit of extra capital to form one of the world's largest network for strategic investment in new technologies and in other areas.

I am hoping to release this site to the general public tomorrow or Monday.

I have two promo going on. One is sharing 100% of the membership fee back with the partners. So first joined will make most of his/her membership fee back.

Second, I am also giving away 3 cash prizes to 3 people who has submitted proposals on our site.

What else should I be doing when I launch this site to get some traction? This will be the largest entrepreneur/investment network onces formed. I want to know if targetting blogs or sending a news release tomorrow would be most effective? If news release, which one is most effective?

Note: The site is still being finalized.

    Thank you.

What is this? Is this like a venture capital thing where you put money in to fledgling compaines, or is it like a fun that invests incompanies (like equities).

More important than grammar, who decides where the money is invested? 1000 partners sounds rough....

They all get to see potential investments and will be able to decide either to invest along with others or stay silent on that investment. Look at this page for some diagrams that might help.

Hi, we may be able to help each other.

From a general marketing / advertising / design background - it is blindingly obvious that to make a project work successfully and for it to really reach the target audience and be sustainable - many ingredients are required...or the project will be a long winded and messy affair leading nowhere and wasting a huge amount of time.

My interest is to link up people with the 'techie' knowledge - to those with the 'creative / design / marketing knowledge'? Together, this is a lethal combination - and rarely appears in the 'internet marketing' scene which is plagued with appalling design, copy and lacking original ideas.

If both are applied TOGETHER, then a very successful and serious project can be undertaken.

Where can the skills bellow be matched to the technical skills?

Create new concepts and Ideas, Fresh and Innovative
Create high-end, professional graphics, quality Websites and Navigation
Create 1st Class copy and marketing strategies.
Target the right audience for the project
    Predict trends

Once these two areas have met and been applied to the Internet marketing, it will wipe the floor of what already exists.

Everyone seems to be having a go doing their own little thing for a few $, but really a high quality, innovative project that REALLY gives a useful service is what will have maximum sustainable return.

Let me know if you or anyone is interested in such a projct.

We all do. The partners will interact through an online collaboration tool that allows them to review and provide advice on every proposal that we have in front of us. Not everyone has to invest in everything as well. However partner is a partner, they will make some money for all of the investments the company involves in.

As a company we will have the people with the skills to select ventures as well. Partners will also bring forward ideas for funding. Again we will all review it and reach consensus before moving forward. A voting system will be in place to allow partners to voice their opinion when it come to company decision making as well.

Looking at the intro page, my brain immediately branded it with "From the people who brought you the million dollar homepage!" That guy actually made a million dollars, so good luck, heh.

yes some people point that out to me. I am still revising the materials. Have pushed my official launch by few more days so that I can clean it more.

    Questions though:

    1) Is targetting blog better than news release for new launch? Which one is better marketing?

My partner and I have trouble making decisions and its only the two of us. I can not even begin to imagine how hard it will be to get all 1,000 people to reach a consensus. Does any one person have more say over the other? Who determines the qualifications of investors? Why should I have to lose my share for a decision I don't approve of? or on the other hand, why should I have to share the reward on my risk with someone who didn't believe in the idea in the first place.

also, what happens if you are unable to reach a certain amount of membership. Say for instance you only get 10 people on board. Can an investor pull his/her stake out of the company?

I have to agree, 1000 people trying to make an investment decision would be chaos! Hell, you can't get 20 people on DP to agree on a marketing technique in a given thread.

I like the idea in concept, it's really great and all warm and fuzzy and everything, hell, a guy won the nobel peace prize for his VC firm that deals in "micro-investments" in the third world (i.e. $20 for a basket maker, etc.), so this isn't a bad idea.(in concept). What this idea really needs to be sustainable is some leadership with experience in the VC realm. If it had that, I think it'd be sweet.

Reminds me of monty python and the holy grail. "Well I thought we were an autonomous collective"

    ARTHUR:
    Then who is your lord?
    WOMAN:
    We don't have a lord.
    ARTHUR:
    What?
    DENNIS:
I told you. We're an anarcho-syndicalist commune. We take it in turns to act as a sort of executive officer for the week,...
    ARTHUR:
    Yes.
    DENNIS:
...but all the decisions of that officer have to be ratified at a special bi-weekly meeting...
    ARTHUR:
    Yes, I see.
    DENNIS:
...by a simple majority in the case of purely internal affairs,...
    ARTHUR:
    Be quiet!
    DENNIS:
...but by a two-thirds majority in the case of more major--
    ARTHUR:
Be quiet! I order you to be quiet!
    WOMAN:
Order, eh? Who does he think he is? Heh.

Agree with you. My first partnered company failed and it was just a handful of friends!

I've thought about this before I had the programmer worked on this website. This is why I came up with this partner/corporate structure. Someone has to lead it and be in charge. Otherwise it will be just like any group of people from startup forums that are trying to work together on projects. Corporate structure will allow us to set clear directions for the company and achieve them.

If you don't believe in a proposal then you don't need to invest in it. Basically if only 500 partners are interested in proposal A then we will collect money from them an invest into Company A. 85% of the revenue from that investment will go back to those 500 partners and the rest will go to "Thousand Partners Inc" (TP). That 15% will go for some corporate expenses and then the rest of the revenue will be split among all partners according to their share. This is just a sample. However a partner can't just sit there silent without investing in any proposal. They can for few but they will have to act on something too. Otherwise through the yearly review of the partners, the other partners can vote to revoke a partner. Corporate head will ultimately the decision maker for such cases.

When it comes to large corporate decision, we will have a survey or a poll done. The results will show us which direction we should go. However as the corporate head we will have a substantial role to play in all of this and where the company will go in the future.

Maybe it won't be that hard to deal with 1000 people compared to just few where you can't poll or survey.

I am thinking about refunding all the money back (100%) to the members if I don't reach 100 members. Whatever number I reach, I will ask those partners what they want to do and decide on that. But i have a good feeling that this will do well. For $250/partner, you are pretty much buying yourself into a large corporation that has many opportunities. Also with my 100% revenue shareing bonus offer, they will make back almost that amount by the time I get 1000 partners. (see promo page for more details) Imagine we put up $200,000 ($200/partner) and buy 50% of YouTube like company when it was just a kid?

LOL thanks for this feedback. You are right and as you can see from my above response, I think it can work. A corporate structure can work with a large number of people. I just have to make it work. If we want many people's dream to come true then we got to move mountains together. That is what I will be asking people to think about.

I wish you had some VC experience. It would be nice to hear some of their feedback on this.
