Just a though about... yeah... PR again

I was wondering... if GG changed their rules...
Instead of count every link even PR0, they now taking points away from you...
eg... if 80% of your backlink is in forum, myspace, directory... links that most likely are not natural links are taking away points from your total score... so with your high score back links, it actually evened out your total score. So... instead of getting PR 4 or 5 that you are expecting... you get PR 0.

"Taking away" is not possible by ANY of the external factors, else it can be used by your competitors to take away your points. :D

Now the idea is interesting. Im not sure about 'taking away' points from you, but putting more weight on links from other site (non directory, forums and etc) could be implemented. That will make the system flexible, to handle sudden surge in directory links or forum sigs, just an example.

I'm pretty sure forum links and directory links are easilly detected and are already devalued.

Agreed. This is something I am sure they've already taken care of. Though I must say that I don't think they're worth nothing at all.

Some competitors use link spam to kill leading sites and G won't care about them, so why should it care in this case?

What are you talking about? Spamming is just one of the simplest ways to abuse your opponents and there are pretty more techniques used by black hat webmasters to wipe competitors out of their way.

Google themselves, state that unnatural links have been devalued, but as already stated, no link can hard your PR in away way. Personally id prefer a low value link then no link at all.

Like duplicating competitor's content on 100 pages. Think about it - almost all factors that G uses to filter or ban sites can be made by competitors.
