If he wants it tell him to have the appraisal done himself and that you will take $1000 or appraisal whichever is higher. He approached you. You didn't approach him.
Indeed, this scam has been up for a long time. At the end, nobody is interesting in purchase your domain name, but in getting from you loads of money for the appraisal and other pseudo-selling services.
There are quite a few domain name resellers out there, but the serious and most successful ones will offer you money for it. They will try to go low, but they will definitely want to own the domain name and then go for the big bucks.
Not a chance that it's genuine. 100% total fraud. Another lie right there. He's playing to your greed, but you will end up worse off if you go through with it. Continue responding to the emails if you want to waste your time. The good thing about that is you also waste his time. Put it up for appraisal on Namepros, if you want an appraisal. Of course this big rich, buyer will say that it's not a valid appraisal.
I have got exactly similar kind of 2 mails mentioned above... for one of the Finance related domain ******THIS IS TOTALLY SCAM ******* what he does is requests for for an appraisal for his own APPRAISAL site or affiliated site. This cost is around $ 70 to $ 250 SO NEVER LOOSE YOUR DOMAIN BELIEVING WHAT HE/SHE SAYS
Got the same set of emails. Total Scam! They'll even send you links on a fake forum thread, saying they bought a domain with $$,$$$ fast w/ the appraisal they requested along with the thread suggesting what appraisal company you should use. I just can't find my email for the link for more proof.
lol I received the same email!!! >Hello, > >Please give me your price for the name in the subject line. Your name was listed for sale. > >Domain names is not my main business. I'm going to make money on reselling to raise funds for launching a portal about tourism in Norway. > >If you offer more domains for sale with good reselling potential please email us your list. > >Looking forward to do business with you. > >Regards, >Jorgen Styggen when i asked him for 750$ he said: 750 USD. Ok. Do you sell the name only without web site? I'm interested in the name so web site is not so important. Do you have an appraisal certificate for your domain name? Domain name is an investment for me. In other words I'm going to sell your name later and make a profit. If I overpay I won't be able to make a profit in the future. It's very important for you and me to know the current market value of your domain. blah blah blah, I told him if you want an appraisal you pay for it, and he didnt reply back
Take about 10 - 20 free appraisal websites and put their responses all together then find the average and reply back with that and if he says to use a certain one he links you to, tell him to shove that link straight up his...
Don't even need to waste time. If you put those sentences into google and do a search, you will see the other side of it .
THANKS ALL FOR THEIR RESPONSE.... Its was a professional scam.. not that person is not responding after i told him that am not ready to appriase the domian.........
Not anyone in this thread he is referring to. It's someone not on DP who contacted him who is the scammer (I hope). OP said he got mail not a PM.
Same here, same words, same clever moves. In my case I was being offered exactly $25,000. Of course, I did not want to go ahead with the appraisal for the simple reason that I do not value appraisals. Any domain name can be valuable if you know how to use it. Appraisal companies are to me similar to insurance agencies. They take your money and you basically get nothing but some "piece of mind"
Seriously man ignore him. I had the same letter offering me $25k for one of my domains. Its just a scam tog et you to use the appraisal service. Do not do it! If he is serious about domains he would know what it is worth and would not need you to do this.
