I'm sure many of you know about this but have not tried this out.
A week ago I went down to my local gym, the car park has about 200 cars+ at any time during the day (btw it was a saturday)

I made these little cards and it said on it:

Got me about 25 uniques. I spent an hour going round to every car and putting it under the car windscreen lol

If you wanna try it out, tell us if you got any better than me looool :p

Thank you for sharing your experience with us :). Actually, billboards might be good in promoting some kinds of websites. I've read here at DP about guy who found out newspapers ads which brings him cheap traffic :).

Great idea! A few different kinds of carparks and thats even more uniques! :)

Its classed as littering though in Australia and you can get fined for it lol.

Nice idea but I was wondering how much did it cost you if you factor the time to prepare and print the cards as well as the 1 hour you spent to distribute them? It could be that using PPC for 25 uniques would have been more cost effective. Cheers!

How about you pay for EVERYTHING in dollar bills and write you site on the dollar bills? In my opinion car park marketing seems too much of a hassle and people could get really mad for you putting stuff on their car.

This could be a good idea in theory, but I don't think you were targeting quite the right demographic. If you ran a site on weight lifting, dieting, etc, it would be different. But how many people at the gym are interested in file uploading?

The idea could work well if it was applied in a more targeted manner.

I've done this with concert flyers and etc... not really a way to calculate the results on that though :)

Good thoughts guys. I think it would have been better if I owned a fitness website :)

Actually it didn't cost much at all, For the small card and the cost of the ink, it came to around £10

Can anyone comment on the legality of leaving flyers / cards on parked cars?

I'm not sure if it's legal but if it's not I don't think you would get in trouble for it.
I think it's fine if you do it in public places not on private land.

I see loads of people doing it in supermarket car parks lol :)

Technically the supermarket parking lot IS private land and owned by the shopping center. Hmmmm, I guess just be careful.

Also, think of costs. Flyers, ink, and TIME probably costs more than $.10 each and dont even guarantee a visitor. You can buy clicks for $.10 each AND be guaranteed a visitor. Just something to think about.

Depending upon what type of website you are promoting you could also print flyers with the little pull off tabs that have your url printed on them. These can be posted at different places such as laundromats, malls, stores, etc. Very cheap advertising.

I think one of the points is making the site available to those who may be a long way away from ever coming to your site in the first place. Marketing outside the box and the internet world.

I actually plan on doing off-line marketing for a future community site that's in the works. Billboards and newspaper ads for sure. Something that's community related can't be marketed on the internet. Plus, those who would never even search for your service online might be intrigued by an ad seen in an uncommon place or way.

you should try putting a big advert on your car, this way many people would see it when you drive around your town

Hosting isnt taretted to a gym at all, if you had a site selling health supplements and put a flyer advertising that then you would have more luck.
