Surely this should be owned/hosted by Shawn?

It's never existed. My guess is you typed something close (but not the same) to digitalpoint.com, that's setup as a misspelling trap. :)

I've also set up forum.mysite.com and redirected to forums.mysite.com.
It's rather useful since lots of people still just type the url in their browser and they are very upset if they see their favourite forum doesn't exist :(

It sure would have been a misspell. Happened to me once too :)

    It's actually a good idea.
Shawn, you should also consider setting up http://forum.digitalpoint.com to redirect to http://forums.digitalpoint.com

Great idea, the same thing has happened to me before I became a frequent visitor. Once you recognize a site that is interesting to you most will use some form of bookmarking anyways. So the OP's problem really only applies to those that enter the URL manually.

There was a digitalpoint.com typo domain for sale on www.tdnam.com the other week. Sorry, I forget what it was exactly. I only remember it was a typo for DP.

If you type in forum.digitalpoint.com, you probably got redirected to your default search provider as the address doesn't exist. Just happened to me, and the first result was this post!!

And I now realise this post was from 2-3 months ago...

    :)

I think you install toolbar which is forwarding your 404 URL's to their Sponsor Pages :)
