Speaking of bugs, the ampersands seem to be getting parsed flakey in the custom templates we've created. They are in the template source as & but after the template is parsed, they are just & in the source and causing validations issues.

I have to research it in the bug section, but I'm pretty certain it's not what I'm doing. I spent alot of time chasing it before I decided it's a bug. In fact, if you look at the little folder Icons in the navbar, you'll notice they are links now. Those would not validate either on the custom pages, so I think it's a vB thing.

Humm, now that I think of it, there may be new navbar code, I forgot to check. :/

Anyway, vBGarage is ported to vBulletin 3.5 as a plugin. Works great too. :)

The quick reply feature is a setting in the admin cp

You can require checking the box on a post for the quick reply box to be active or not.

go to vBulletin Options > Message posting and editing options > Require Click for Quick Reply

I know... it will be back to how it was with beta 2 (there is a bug, which is why it's how it is right now). Check this thread for more info.

That bug is so minor though. The text goes away when you change pages -

Good think it isn't the other way around.

What can you tell me about the plug-in system? I haven't been keeping up my phpBB mod because it is such a PITA.

I wonder if vB ever thought about going free and just throwing adSense on their site. You never know, they might actually be able to make enough with it if they took over phpBB's following with a better product.

What do you want to know? Basically lets you insert PHP code into pretty much any place without touching the PHP files. I converted everything here to plug-ins... AdSense Revenue Share, Recent Blog Entry, Music Reporter, etc. I have around 20 plug-ins for everything I do (most little things that most people don't notice).

That wouldn't make much sense for them IMO. They have a HUGE install base (probably 50,000+) If they sold 50 copies/day (which is reasonable), that's $2.9M/year in new sales, plus probably another $1M/year or so in the $20 (or maybe it's $30, I forget) annual upgrade/support agreement.

They are doing a good job... they have a big enough user base, that they can keep the price low, so... {shrug} :)

    Its $30 -

I laugh every time someone suggests vBulleting come up with a free option.

I guess I always felt that if you cant afford $7 a month to pay for your vBulletin, then you should go get a job instead of spending time running a forum. :D

I think Ferrari should come up with a economy priced car too, maybe they could sell an ad on the back window to pay for it.

In the big picture, from experience, vBulletin is worth the money.

When someone claims to have a contender against them, I look forward to tring the product and reading the code. But it'll take alot to get me to switch, I don't see that happening.

We send html emails with the commbull hack.

The new version allows you to access your smtp server now instead of just the php mailer.

the default welcome email is plain text. I'll look at commbull after we upgrade. Thanks noppid.
