According to my calculations, when I last visited DMOZ shopping section there were 121,362 sites listed and that was on 5-June (my time), today 12-June (my time) that number remains the same. Surely in the top category of shopping there has been SOME activity, even if it not for the activity I am wanting (ie..my sites to be approved), surely somebody has had there stite approved in the last 7 or so days. yikes....
I guess the numbers at the top don't update that fast. See the last update dates on the following just as a very small sample - they all had sites added in the last day http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Clothing/Undergarments/Lingerie/Fine/ http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Visual_Arts/Painting/Galleries/ http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Visual_Arts/Painting/Artists/Watercolors/M/ http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Home_and_Garden/Plants/Tropicals_and_Exotics/
Thanks mac, the numbers in the lower level categories I have submitted to haven't changed in the past few weeks that I have noticed though
I'm a shopping editor, usually very active but my time has been extremely limited this past week... although not as much as I'd like, I have done some work in Shopping during this time. After next week I will dive back into it full time.
Good luck compostannie! <wishful thinking> Check out these categories in particular: http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Publications/Magazines/ http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Gifts/Gift_Baskets/ </wishful thinking> Just joking.. best of luck
The Last update timestamp does not really mean that a site was added. Maybe a site was deleted, or updated or anything else. I am an editor in a regional category.
Is dmoz even worth bothering with anymore? It's such a pain getting listed in catagories I care about, I don't even waste my time. Darn web-politician editors blackballing competing sites! =P
It's certainly worth taking the time to do a proper submission, but it's definately not worth obsessing over.
