    Internet Explorer should annoy you because Firefox is W3C compliant. IE is NOT. Microsoft defines their own standards. I always optimize for FF, because I don't accept the behaviour of Microsoft. :eek:

    What do you want it to be doing?

    Got a screen grab of the desired effect?

    <html>
    <head>
    <title></title>
    <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="main.css" />
    </head>

    <body>
    <div id="all">
    	<div class="middle">
    	SEBasic is my Idol SEBasic is my Idol SEBasic is my Idol SEBasic is my Idol SEBasic is my Idol SEBasic is my Idol SEBasic is my Idol SEBasic is my Idol SEBasic is my Idol SEBasic is my Idol SEBasic is my Idol SEBasic is my Idol SEBasic is my Idol SEBasic is my Idol SEBasic is my Idol SEBasic is my Idol SEBasic is my Idol SEBasic is my Idol SEBasic is my Idol SEBasic is my Idol SEBasic is my Idol SEBasic is my Idol SEBasic is my Idol SEBasic is my Idol SEBasic is my Idol SEBasic is my Idol SEBasic is my Idol SEBasic is my Idol SEBasic is my Idol SEBasic is my Idol SEBasic is my Idol SEBasic is my Idol SEBasic is my Idol SEBasic is my Idol SEBasic is my Idol SEBasic is my Idol SEBasic is my Idol SEBasic is my Idol SEBasic is my Idol SEBasic is my Idol SEBasic is my Idol SEBasic is my Idol SEBasic is my Idol SEBasic is my Idol SEBasic is my Idol SEBasic is my Idol SEBasic is my Idol SEBasic is my Idol SEBasic is my Idol SEBasic is my Idol SEBasic is my Idol SEBasic is my Idol SEBasic is my Idol SEBasic is my Idol SEBasic is my Idol SEBasic is my Idol SEBasic is my Idol SEBasic is my Idol SEBasic is my Idol SEBasic is my Idol SEBasic is my Idol SEBasic is my Idol SEBasic is my Idol SEBasic is my Idol SEBasic is my Idol SEBasic is my Idol SEBasic is my Idol SEBasic is my Idol SEBasic is my Idol SEBasic is my Idol SEBasic is my Idol SEBasic is my Idol SEBasic is my Idol SEBasic is my Idol SEBasic is my Idol SEBasic is my Idol SEBasic is my Idol SEBasic is my Idol

    </div>
    </body>
    </html>
    Code (markup):
    Make a new image for the drop shadow that includes the left and right drop, then use this to style the new middle class

    .middle{
    position:relative;
    width:430px;
    background-image: url(http://www.shoppingfriends.co.uk/FFError/NEW-BACKGROUND-IMAGE.gif);
    background-repeat: repeat-y;
    padding-left: 10px;
    padding-right: 10px;
    }
    Code (markup):
    let me know if that made sense...

    so set it as the background of the middle div rather than having separate divs for the shadows?

    Yeah...
    It's the "right" way to do it...
    No point in having an empty div that simply holds a background image...
