OK.. December is over and i made about $700. I am psyched.

I cant believe how cool this is and i want to learn more.

I did not get good results from using adwords (keyword costs are WAY too high). Adbrite was horrible and in my account it says i had clicks yet my awstats show none from adbrite.

Most of it was from manual promotion i did to boards, sites, forums, etc.

What other advertising methods can i use? I really want to double what i made this month and i am working on a different campaign than last month.

    Give me your ideas! Thanks

    Okay,

First id like to congratulate you. It's great you made $700 your first month, and while there's no problem asking for others to give you suggestions for how you can improve i think it would be great if you gave more details as what made you successful. Im not asking you to expose your niche or anything like that, just some good ideas for the average noob would be great. I just got my first check from google and while not $700 i was happy all the same.

And with that sort of gesture (you helping others) perhaps the all stars will take notice and offer you some knowledge from the fruits of their labor.

    Just my 2 cents.

haha.. well i see your point.

I didnt really do anything special.

All i did was search Azoogle for a few small campaigns that i myself thought that i would sign up for it i saw an ad for it. I took those campaigs and gave them a subdomain on a few of my sites and put it out there. Bought some traffic to it, manually advertised some of it and more.

My luck was best met with smaller campaigns that dont require people to purchase anything, just sign up.

I dont have the riches like the *stars* on this board do to pay for expensive advertising, and i dont own a domain that bring me lots of traffic so i had to go with what was available to me for free.

My goals are to earn enough money to reinvest in some of the sites for sale on here and then turn those sites into more traffic to my affiliate sites, establish myself a mailing list and keep people coming.

Its a long road and i wish i had the $ to pay one of the stars here for mentoring but i dont. I guess i need to learn and this board and everyone on it has been the best help

I had the exact same problem with Adbrite so I removed my account. I never went down the manual route but I must start on it and see where it gets.

You should invest some of your earnings into Adwords although you might pay out the arse for the clicks, its worth the test though.

i have invested $ in adwords.. LOTS of money and they SUCK for me.

I dont know what i did wrong but it was just not worth it. There is far too much competiton and the CPC is way too high. I see sometimes 'inactive for bidding, increase to $5' ... HELL no.

The trick with adwords is increasing the quality of the landing pages. Eg if you bid for "guitar" and you landing page is about "music", they will give you $2 - $4 even if there iz no compitition. However if it does have some content about guitars, they cost will be down to 0.10 per click. Also if you have more than 10 keywords per ad group you will see an inflation in CPC. The biggest mistake people do iz that they stuff in thousands of keywords in one ad group and start with bigger amounts. So the trick is do make up relevent landing pages for each category of keywords, put in less than 15 keywords per ad group and start bidding with $0.05 and increment in steps of 2 cents. Hope it helps. :)

If you want more advice PM me. I can always help whenever I get spare time. :)

Well,,, that is something i did not know man, thanks for the advice. My only issue with that is that for affiliate sites there is no content. I just have my domain for each affiliate redirect to my campaign URL. How does one get around this without cloaking? (if that is even possible with an adwords link, not sure)

I am sitting at $10 per click at the moment to activate the bidding, swindlers.

If the manual promotion has worked for you now I would stick with it until you figure out your next move. Keep reading over shoemoneys blog, most of all his earlier posts as it might spark the light bulb of ideas.

Also one should go for specific keywords Eg. If you sell bass guitars, you should not choose "guitars" as keywords. Because out of 100 people looking for guitars, many maybe actually looking for guitar information, guitar lessons, other types of guitars etc. So the amount invested in getting these people to your site iz wasted since they will never convert (since they are not interested anyways).

So the best would be to go for keywords like "bass guitars" "bass guitar strings" etc (i. e. more specific keywords). The best would probably be "buy bass guitars". because the people here are in the ready mind set for buying bass guitars and these are the ones that will give you a high conversion.

One more important thing is CTR. For higher CTR you get a higher position in the ads on the search page. Also the price may likely go down a bit.

One last tips iz to go for spelling mistakes like "baas guitars". these do happen and have little or no compitition.

I hope all these tips help. They seem easy but take a lot of hardwork and dedication. But it eventually pays off. :)

Nothing comes for free. If you want to increase your income, you have to work for it. You have to generate content. If you dont have time get someone to do it (You see, its either your time or money). Get an article written about the offer you are promoting (some sort of review type thingy :D ). A 500 word article typically cost $5. Hunt around for good writers.

Here iz an example of a landing page :

Great job Lemon. Keep at it and the money will build steadily, just don't get discouraged. Soon that $700 a month will turn into $700 a week, then $700 a day and so on...:) No one is going to lay out a roadmap for you, but if you watch this forum and people's blogs, there are nuggets of info to be learned.
