    Hey,

Is adsense allowed on Poker Blogs? I know that they ban gambling related sites, but whether or not Poker is a form of gambling is a much heated debate amongst hardenned Poker players. The pros claim that it isn't gambling.

Best to check with Google themselves but I doubt it.

The Google AdSense Program Policies state:

Google is getting a bit psychotic about those policies. They recently disallowed me the ability to display AdSense ads on pages about air guns and stun guns based upon this line from the program policies:

I can't decide if Google is more ignorant or more fascist. Perhaps I should start a poll.

I've always wondered about their no gambling or casino-related content rule, since I've seen plenty of AdWord ads related to that. Just seems a little odd to me. Is there any particular reason they would want to disallow it from AdSense sites?

Google also told me that I could not display AdSense ads on a page about gun cases, when clearly there are plenty of AdSense advertisers who are targeting the keyword "gun cases".

    Proof? See: http://www.google.com/sponsoredlinks?hl=en&lr=&c2coff=1&q=gun+cases

I think it would be OK if the page said "Super Soakers" and not OK if the page said "Water Guns".

Because... Google hires people who do not read English.

How much AdSense revenue does that site pull in?

I believe Google checks sites which make significant revenue amounts more frequently.

If that site makes less than a thousand dollars a month, they may never have looked at it.

Google doesn't like poker sites and similar sites.
Recently, Google and other search engines are facing a lawsuit which was accepted by the court. I you have sites pointing to gambling sites and similar, - better watch out...

Against Yahoo!, Google, FindWhat and Other Search Engines for Alleged Illegal Involvement in Internet Gambling Advertising; Plaintiffs' Case to Move Forward

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 3, 2005 Defendants, including Yahoo!, Google, FindWhat and other major search engine websites lost their motion to strike core allegations in plaintiffs' complaint in the case of Cisneros et al v. Yahoo! et al (San Francisco County Superior Court). These allegations ask the Court to provide a remedy against the search engine's alleged illegal advertisement of Internet gambling. The Court made a ruling that allows the case to move forward.

..."The search engines, such as Yahoo! and Google, attempted to convince the court that they could advertise Internet gambling with immunity -- the court rejected that notion and allowed the case to proceed," said Reed Kathrein, an attorney for the plaintiffs...

Good use of adsense! The first thing I wanted to do when I got there was see what the "free phil helmuth" ad was for. Unfortunately the destination site was aweful.

I asked them about this and they said no. No gambling at all. The gambling adwords could target the serps.

You can definately get a special permission from Google on many issues if you contact them and they find you worthy.

If you read the policy it talks about gambling... I know of a bunch of old ladies (well not too many ;)) that sit around and play poker and never gamble. I also know of a webmaster that has a site about poker... the rules and how to play. That person has ran adsense on his site for just about one year now.

I think the key is his site doesn't even mention gambling (and no affiliate banners) at all... just talks about the different games and how to play them and whatnot.

My understanding of it is that providing you are not linking to an online poker or gambling site then you're OK.

I think you can have a site which discusses the finer points of poker and display AdSense but you can't have any outbound links to a gambling site. Except, of course, the ones provided by Google themselves......
