I just read an article about the new service and found you have to be invited to join. Since I have no friends I guess I'll never be a member (sob) [hey, where's the sad smiley?]
I can invite you as well. Only been to the site a few times and didn't really see anything too exciting.
I don't think that is a surprise. I believe they say so right in their FAQ section or eslewhere. I have a little community on there called "Complete SEO" and we manage to have some interesting discussions. The thing that amazes me about the site/service is how terribly slow it is. It is sponsored by Google as I understand it. I can't believe they couldn't throw some more computing power at it. If anyone want to join let me know and I'll issue an invitation.
Well here's what I don't get: what's the point of a site like this if you have to know someone to get inside in the first place? Isn't the point of a "social" site going in to where you don't know anyone so you can find new 'friends'? I don't really care about joining, never did. It wasn't the reason for the post as much as it was about the whole concept, very highschool'esque.
The members took a vote and banned me before I joined. They do not want spies in the community at Google. I just can't make a honest living when everyone loves Google, any Google haters around? Please stand up and be counted, I am going to start a online club and I am looking for administrators and moderators.
Your full of it again Anthony. Send me your email address and I'll issue you an invitation. Anybody can join. Now as to the need for invitations. It is supposed to be a network of friends. It a little bit like the old "six degrees of separation" game. Obviously people aren't very responsible about who they will claim as a friend, but at least it may prevent the worse kind of spammer and opportunists. Once you get on the site and start to partipate in the communities then you can ask other members to be your friend and in turn you will get invitations from other members to be their friends. So a network of people who more less know each other grows up. Apart from that it is a very democratic organization. There are people there from every country in the world -- I happen to have run into a large contingent from Iran. And there are communities in many foreign languages. Anthony says he has been barred, but that is bullshit. In fact he could start a "Google is Evil" community and nobody would censor him.
Bob, are you the marketing director over there, because if you are not, you should be, with a statement like that I am ready to join right now. That "Google is evil" community sounds great, sort of like that hippie guy from California had going back in the 70's, I just can not recall his name, but I think he is in San Quinton at this time, did I spell that right?
my name is Sven and my email is m r l o v e @ g m a i l . c o m remove all the spaces. Hope you can invite me?
I know I'm a newbie and I've just started ( thus have no real rights to ask people for favors ) but I'm curious and would like to give ithis a try. So if you could possibly be so kind to invite me as well I would be very grateful. *blinks charmingly* My email adress is A n e l e y @ gmail.com *without the spaces of course
Aneley and Sven, I just invited both of you to join Orkut. I needed to know your surname to invite you, so Sven I invited you as "Sven Peon", and Aneley I invited you as "Aneley Jelena". Hopefully you can correct that when you setup your profiles, but if not send me your full names and I'll invite you again. It only stands to reason that you would know the full name of a friend.
Thank you kindly. As for your comment on last names...well not always, I know a lot of people with whom I comunicate a lot over the net on a regular basis (mostly people I know from digital art sites) and I could consider them net friends, but yet I don't know the last names of some of them. That's the way of the net I guess. You can talk to a person for months/years know their mind, and yet still be completelly ignorant to their basic information (such as a last name, or street adress) And just for the record my full name is Jelena Jovovic. Nice to meet you. *bows gracefuly*
If it wouldn't be any trouble for you, then yes. But send this to the following adress: gordanaj @ sezampro.yu Somehow I didn't get anything on Gmail, so just to be on the safe side.
Woman! You're driving me crazy. First you change your name, then you change your email. By the time we get this right I will have invited your 10 times. Stand by I'll try it one more time.
Ah the things you do for friends, now you better treat the young lady nice Bob, you know she runs a dating service, check out her website! She might hook you up with someone 50 years younger than you Lets see, 69 minus 50 = let me get my calculator out, hold on.... 1 year over your age limitation; a 19 year old, I would be nice to her and make sure she gets her invitations Compar
Please, somebody can give an invitation to me for the ORKUT? it would like to make Mars of this community. Debtor Josiel
