REP SYSTEM hacked?

I'm getting negative rep from member who swear the signature isn't theirs, and obviously that's simple impersonation, but I'm seeing the signature CHANGE (for example, it change from ogho to webhost) after checking my user cp a few hours later.

    e.g:

    "you suck" - person x

    is

    "you suck" - person y

    two hours later!

no one get into a rep war, the person who offended you was probably either an impersonator or a hacker.

    Hey,

That´s interesting. I got a bad rep this morning which should have stung because it was from a double greenie (if the signature is true). Only the rep was blue and took no points off me. Hmmm. I answered the repper in the thread so if it wasn´t who the note said it was, somebody is going to be wondering what the hell I am talking about.

If they had two greens and the rep came out grey, then the rep wasn't posted by the person they said it was.

The funny thing is I was not surprised that this member would leave his name when repping - I´d expect that from him but his note did seem a bit off. As I am on the hijacker´s radar, I suppose he may have red repped someone using my name too.

If anyone received any red from me yesterday it wasn´t me! I´ve hardly ever red repped anyone - maybe twice since I got here to DP.

I think it's amusing how people are all too happy to leave their names when green repping someone but when it come to red repping no-one wants the person to know who it was. :)

Indeed, just got a negative rep with no name, but he included the thread name.. how obvious can you be?

The green ones are all with names! :)

As long as you're not red the reputation system doesn't really mean anything and people tend to get a little obsessive about these kind of things.

If you're going to red rep just leave your name. The worst that can happen is that they red rep you back if that's what they're like. If you mention on the forums that you red repped someone for a thread and left your name and then they red repped you back, people tend to have sympathy for you and then they give you a surge of greens.

Therefor, it should be your aim to be repricol red repped because people will give you sympathy reps.

.... If only AC was here, he'd have a field day ;)

Weirfire, so what you are saying is that I should red rep this guy who gave me a red rep?

No, what I'm saying is that if you come across a post that you find is unsuitable you should red rep them leaving your name. This way, if they red rep you back you can complain about them and receive almost tenfold positive reps. It's a sure thing ;)

I think it's a pretty funny joke to play to be honest. It just shows how silly you can be to take the rep seriously.

That I agree with. If you're going to leave personal insults then it isn't a joke but it's pretty funny to sign someone elses name hehe

Last night I got this ugly rep from a username that isn't even on the list:
Clearly someone is trying to cause trouble - no doubt they will be caught.

This sort of thing comes and goes... I guess it depends on how long it takes the perpetrator to cleans the crispiness of their keyboard, and how long they can keep their right hand free for

    ;-)
