I believe I've read somewhere in their TOS/Policies that they may terminate accounts that hasn't earned enough ($100) to get a check in over 6 months...

That may be the reason for your ban??

I'll try to find some more info on this later..

    Found it:
It was number of clicks, not earnings..

Good find, Redleg. That would really suck if they killed an account right before it hit the payout mark.

    Well this is sure nice.

Google reserves the right to terminate without notice any account that has not generated a sufficient number of valid clicks on Ads (as measured by Google) for a period of two (2) months or more.

    Taken from here:

    https://www.google.com/adsense/localized-terms

But I was still getting a small amount of clicks. Perhaps not enough.

Not very fair in my opinion if this was the case for me. I display the ads for months and then get terminated without pay.

I should email them back. I have heard that there responses are generated automatically though.

Email them. It is rare but they do sometimes re-instate your account. There was a big guide over at WMW about how to get re-instaded. I don't have the URL but it was there.

    Good Luck.

    That would be me ;)

Yeah.. I emailed Google like twenty times, only got three replys, and two of which I know where automated, and the third was too I think.

Someone came up with a few things that possibly could have been considored violation of the TOS, but none of them had anything to do with invalid clicks, and thats the email that Google sent me. I never put anything on my site indicating or even hinting at users to click the ads, and I didn't intentionally click them myself. (I did click them twice accidently, but that was almost three months before my account got canceled.. so I'd be almost positive that wouldn't be the reason)

Basically they said that it was against their policys to give out any more information, when I asked them if I could have the exact reason.

I asked them if I could get back in if I removed them from the site in question, and they said something along the lines of once you're out, you're out.

I did get back in.. we moved, and I signed up under my mom, and with our new address. Apperently it wont let people with the same address sign up again.

Google's bots are mean little things :)

As for advertising.. Yahoo is coming out with their clone soon, so I'd signup with them and see if you can do OK on your sites with them. You might also try affiliate programs, the best converting are payperlead that don't require the user to buy anything. (I.e. freeipod.com type links, that pay on signup or something)

I for one cannot WAIT for yahoo to come out with their own version. Competition is a very healthy thing for all involved.

One website I owned was politely asked to remove Adsense.

Apparently, anything to do with firearms collecting, hunting, and the 2nd amendment are against the TOS for Adsense but porn and terrorist websites are perfectly fine. Go figure.

So merely discussing the positive aspects of certain firearms is considered 'promotion' without me actually ever selling any firearm related items.

pht. That sucks mate. But at least they didn't overtly kick you out. BTW I don't think porn is ok, but I've seen borderline softcore with Adsense.

Were you offering any MP3s download, that could be one reason....

The other could be, your account generated limited clicks and of that how many from a single IP... Also, remember, from wherever you login to adsense account that IP is recorded and a cookie is set into that machine. Now that machine is termed as machine in your control, if there are any clicks on your ads from that particular machine, ban is inevitable. That machine in control, could be anywhere, be it public cybercafe, lab, school, your home, your friends home....

Google for sure, don't terminate account for spike in clicks. I understand, they might investigate.

No I didnt offer any downloads. it was all discussion forums. theres pretty much only one isp around here. i didnt click my own ads. when i dialup its gonna be a different ip every time. i dunno what happened. most of my viewers were from the same isp, id say 90 percent. i wasnt even generating much money. just seems strange.

Just so you understand, cookies do not = IP address. Two totally different things, I LMBO when people brag about their rotating IP's. Cookies track you along with IP addy's. If the same cookie is found with diff IP's clicking on ads, instobanno!!!!!!

okay, think about the places from where you have checked your adsense account, like friends home, cyber cafe, school, college, lab etc etc...

One other thing to keep in mind with dynamic IP addresses is that they are generally in a rotating pool. With that in mind, the IP's all likely belong to the same subnet depending on how the ISP has broken down their IP allocation. Traditionally with dialup using either PM3's, Ascend, USR, whatever, the pools were generally made up of /27's and /28's so you would have 32IP's and 16IPs in a given pool on each RAS (remote access server). So while the IP might be unique, the block is not. So if you get say 123.456.789.1, hang up and then get 123.456.789.2. You have a different IP, however they are on the same subnet. Depending on how Google looks at fraud, I would gather they are smart enough to catch on to anyone cheating the system running through numerous class c's, b's, etc. However, given that there are much larger ISP's out there, it is entirely possible that a different person, completely different person could end up with the same IP that clicked on an add previously. Also given that most ISP's use the same VPOP services now-a-days, again, numerous unique users could end up with the same IP at a different time, and those users could concievably click on the same ad someone else did previously using that IP. I'm gonna guess that Google looks at a hell of a lot more than just an IP address when determining click fraud. Besides, when there is click fraud, there are likely a lot more clicks coming from the same IP/block to the same add than the chance happenstance of sheer coinsendence.

i was just thinking, if cookies are involved, (it would make sense to match the cookie to the fraud) then the cookies could be spoofed and in theory you could take out someones account. say i spoof userX cookie and click on userX ads. if this is the case, he would be shut down.

anyone familiar with old phpbb forums and its numerous cookie exploits (replacing your cookie content with that of an administrator to become and administrator) will see what im talking about.

im not saying this is what happened to me.

I must say I find this all rather troubling. :(

I don't earn much at all from AdSense as yet, and I don't have a handle on what Google might deem "sufficient" in this context:
(6.) "In addition, Google reserves the right to terminate without notice any account that has not generated a sufficient number of valid clicks on Ads (as measured by Google) for a period of two (2) months or more."
If it is a CTR rate, then I could drop AdSense from all but my top two (by Impressions & CTR) pages

Reluctantly, I think I may have to step-up the AdWords budget to generate more traffic, to make sure I earn enough AdSense $$s to stay with that program. That's a problem because like most I am on a limited budget and would prefer to spend the money on building up content, refining the design, other on-line and offline promo, etc.

For a firm which espouses "Do no evil", Google sure seems to be be putting sandboxed sites in an unpleasant bind.

Like Henny, I too can't wait until Yahoo establishes a seriously competitive program that is its equivalent to AdSense, so one could at least choose the program that it best for one's site.
