Okay... so... I'm like a total n00b to Google AdSense, and I was wondering if any of you DPer's could really help me in building a site to utilize this money-making technique....

I just have some questions that need some answering, like..
    • How to increase traffic
    • How to Increase amount of money I can make a click
    • If i can build my site around anything i want

I just need a lttle push to start me out on my AdSense journey.

    Thanks in advance

You might as well quit now. Your're already breaking one of the TOS. You can't build a site specifically for adsense.

Why don't you create somthing you enjoy? Then ad adsense to that site. You aren't creating it for adsense, you are writing about somthing you enjoy, there's a difference.

Yeah, if you sound interested, no one will ever accuse you of trying to make money.

Have a good topic, follow the TOS, and google will never know or care if you're are really interested in your topic.

Ok so.. I've got my site. Not much is on it yet because i need to scan some stuff and get some pictures from my friend. But i have a site... I already have accountto another site, but havent really used it. I guess i just forgot to put it on that one, then i just like forgot about the site too... lol. But a question... If I make another account with the same address, will it not accept it or should i just use that account?

I'm impressed you signed. However, let me ask you this, are you going to spend tomorrow doing something you enjoy or are you going to try to earn a living?

Please don't play the "I get to do what I love" card, that's carp. I love my work too, but I'd way rather be up in the Blue Ridge Mountains on a Buell.

So really, what's up, with that? Are we not allowed to admit we're running a business for profit and seek tips to do so? Why would you resent that?

EDIT: you know what, you can fuck off with your cancer keywords too. You affraid of competition? I'm sure you got those topics because it's what you enjoy? You enjoy slow painful death? Nothing but spammy keyword pages! Is that your example of content? What a damn hypocrate! You're an ass.

Yes, the difference between professional and hobbist.

As long as the site has value - what difference does the motivation make?

You crack me up kid ;)

hahah you said fuck :) But I am with SHI on this one, c-mon:
    1) make sites you LOVE and ENOJOY and make $$$
    2) make sites you have no motivation for and make $$$

seems a No-brainer to me. *hands the "I get to do what I love" card to noppid*

When you put it like that obviously you would go out and try to earn a living. In my opinion, you should enjoy or be interested in what you are doing.

Maybe enjoy isn't the right word, maybe interested would be better. I do those topics because I was genuanly interested in the topics. Close friends and members on my family have had some of those disesases.

The page you are reffering to is just a list of diseases caused by smoking, if you looked at some of the other pages there is alot of content on them.

They were originally there from the start. I then removed them for a few weeks until I built up some traffic. I have only added them within the last 2 weeks.

PS It's SHT not SHI :p or shit as some people seam to call me :(

Yo Ace of Spades - post the url or PM me the url and I'd be happy to give you advice when the sites up. :)

And concerning this debate about making sites solely to earn or out of actual interest, personally I do a bit of both.

I have a guitar site I'm genuinely interested in. I've been playing the guitar for 4 years, I taught myself so I build a site for guitarists that want to teach themselves.

That said I'm also building some sites purely to earn cash. Personally I find the challenge of building a site and watching it's progress fun (in terms of traffic, link pop, PR, and of course earnings...).

Annnnyway that's all I have to say :D

Don't pull that trigger yet! Just male a site about something you enjoy and post the adsense on it. It will be easy to maintain a good site and get plenty of traffic if it is something you enjoy. Look at the aquarium fish site in my signature for an example. ;)

If you could post the link so we could give you advice. I am pretty new at this as well. So far my only site that got anywhere is my myspace codes site. As for other sites I am trying ot think of what would be in high demand that I know a lot about. I would be glad to help you with anything that I can. ~John
