Will Smith Fan Site - 1,000 Uniques This Month

    I bought this site on DP a few months ago. I think I paid $200 bucks for it.

    The URL is www.will-smith.net

    It is a good domain name and has started getting traffic the last two months.

    Revenue--I don't have any. The person I bought the site from didn't do a php includes for the adsense, so I only changed it on a small number of pages. So assume very little income, atleast to my adsense account. And you have to change the adsense code on each page.

    I submitted the site to some directories/fan sites. It shows 88 backlinks in yahoo. I would assume this promotion is why the traffic has increased some. His new movie with his son may have something to do with it too.

    The site has biography, discography, filmography, lyrics, awards, quotes, and pictures. I haven't changed the amazon code for the movies or cds, so I don't know about income from that either. Not sure if the biography/other pages are original, but the lyrics are obviously not.

    So it is a site with a good domain name and increasing traffic. It needs somebody to set up the adsense/amazon ads. I forgot I even had it... not going to do anything with it.

    Depends on who you believe!

    If their name is viewed as 'recognisable brand' (or something) they can ask for the domain back off you for free...

    Still, plenty of people do it, and few hit any problems.

    I've heard more about company problems (something like youtube.net), where the company has the name trademarked. Most celebrities do not, since most names are held by more than one person.

    Will Smith, for example, has over 12000 results in Yahoo for the US.

    The reserve is $200 since that is what I paid for it. The domain is a good one, so I think that is a fair price with design/increasing traffic.

    I will let it run for about 48 more hours. Anything above $200 and I might end it early depending on bidding frequency.

    About 32 hours to go.

    If the bid goes above $150, I'll include the extra domains.

    $200 BIN
    $70 Reserve

    I think this is a steal, but I don't really plan on doing anything with the site... so $70 is better then letting it sit on my server making somebody else money.

    So toby is the highest bidder with $70.

    If bidding doesn't go that high, anyone can buy the domains for $10 each.
