Stupid Question? # of hits from Google?

Sorry if this may seem dumb, but I'm just curious how many hits other people are getting from Google on a monthly basis. My site (in sig) looks like it will hit 4,000 UVs from Google in December. Is this good? Or is there really no basis for comparison?

What type of #s are others seeing?

 

Wow 4,000is good man keep it up. You must hold a top spot in a high traffic SERP. To tell you the truth I've had no such luck with google serps. My google adsense blog gets about 500 for google monthly though it depends on how much I post.

I get more like 1000 visitors a day through google.

 

Values are dependant on your niche so there really is no basis for comparison. If you want an indication of how many of ur potential visitors you are attracting find out how many searches are conducted for your keywords - then compare with your hits.

 

Some niches would be very hard to attract visitors from google to - like humor (see the sig of the original poster). Things like stumbleupon and social networking/ online bookmarks ought to work better for those.

Vigor (or others) - how can you tell how many searches are done for a particular keyword?

 

There are quite a few programs out there. I use the SEO book keyword research tool: http://tools.seobook.com/general/keyword/

Remember that none of these tools are that accurate but they usually give a good indication

 

I'm getting 3,000 to 4,000 google referrals a day during the holidays. Closer to 7000 during the week on a regular week.

Not to say 4000 a month isn't good, especially if you have a more narrow subject. Mine is pretty broad.

 

My best site had 7k google uniques in December up until the 23rd, when my server went down for 24 hours, and the site disappeared off the google radar completely.

It's hard to quantify unless you compare apples to apples. Find someone else that's competing for your exact same keywords and ask them.

 

I got around 13k uniques from Google in December but I wouldn't say that is anything special.

 

My affiliates send over 1000 visitors per month to my site every month. Some months the traffic they send accounts for the majority of my sales. I would prefer to get more direct Google traffic (yahoo/msn treat me well already), but a sale is a sale is a sale.

 

I get about almost 600 uniques from google from one of my sites

 

I got 60,000 unique from google last month (December) from one of my site. But it will always depends on the niche of your site.
