Looks like Florida will remain red, at least for now.

Some things might change tomorrow (surprise!), but for now it's looking good for the Republicans.

How is it going in your state @jrbiz ?

Rhode Island is bluer than blue and will stay this way for the foreseeable future. Ugly, but true. Looks like the House and Senate are going to the dark side, this time.

Florida's got a chance to pass a bill canceling property taxes. DeSantis pushed it and now they have a shot. Will they actually do it? I DOUBT IT.

No income taxes or property taxes? How will they fund the government? Big sales taxes? I am not aware of any state that does not have either an income tax or a property tax.

DeSantis wanted to completely abolish property taxes on primary residences. His reasoning was that when you buy a car or food you don't keep paying taxes on them every year, so why pay ongoing taxes on a home? Now they've passed Amendment 3 which offers property tax relief under specific stipulations, but it still needs final state approval. It all feels like pie in the sky and nothing substantial will actually change.
