I've been seeing more and more platforms that are built just for selling digital products, like gumroad, sellfy, ecomzy. It got me wondering if anyone here has actually used one of them I'm curious about what the experience is really like once you're using it every day. Is managing a digital only store pretty straightforward or are there challenges people don't usually talk about? I admit the whole idea of selling products that don't exist in a physical form still feels a little unusual to me but maybe I'm just used to traditional online stores Personaly I run one full digital store but I also have offline business and it gives me the biggest income, it's obvious because I'm more a traditional businessman If you've tried any of these platforms I'd love to hear your honest opinion. Was it worth getting into, or do you think they're a bit overhyped?
Envato has a group of websites that have been selling digital products online for decades. This isn't new.
Yes totally. Only one note - even if there is no one to compite with in your niche - the ads and the promo are VITAL
Pure digital products definitely sell. Way more people are doing it than you think. Gumroad is super easy to start with. Takes minutes to set up. But they take a 10% cut and their support is awful. People get their accounts frozen with no warning. If you're running multiple stores or testing different products, keep your accounts isolated.
Yes, it's real, and it can work well, but I'd treat the platform as the easy part. From my own experience as a UK creator, the products that sell are the ones that solve one narrow problem you've actually dealt with yourself, so start there rather than trying to cover everything. Keep the first version simple, then test it with a small audience before spending anything on ads. If you ever resell anything with resell rights or PLR, read the licence terms carefully first, because what you're allowed to change, bundle or resell varies a lot. As nicenic said, trust matters too, so clear descriptions and honest previews go a long way.
