Hey everyone, I've been working on SEO for a pretty specific niche — hydraulic tail lifts and dock levellers for commercial vehicles. Not exactly the sexiest industry, but the search intent is incredibly clean and the competition from a content standpoint is surprisingly thin. Wanted to share what's been working and get some input from people who've done similar things in industrial or B2B manufacturing niches. What we're doing: We started by mapping out the full keyword universe — core terms, long-tails, comparison queries, troubleshooting queries, and application-specific terms. Ended up with around 200 target keywords across 7 content clusters. Each cluster covers a different angle: product types, capacity selection, maintenance, industry applications, and so on. The idea is to own the topic completely rather than chase individual keywords. Google seems to reward that approach in low-competition niches more than in crowded ones. What's working so far: Troubleshooting content gets indexed fast and pulls long-tail traffic almost immediately Comparison content (e.g. steel vs aluminum platform, cantilever vs folding) attracts higher-intent visitors Internal linking between cluster articles is making a noticeable difference in crawl frequency What I'm still figuring out: Link building in this niche is tough — there aren't many relevant sites willing to exchange links or accept guest posts Getting traction on third-party platforms without triggering spam filters has been hit or miss Anyone else working in industrial or manufacturing SEO? Would love to hear what link building approaches have worked outside of the usual guest post route.
