How do you process product images in bulk for ecommerce stores?

    Hi everyone,
I'm working on an ecommerce project with a growing product catalog, and one of the biggest challenges I'm facing is managing product images efficiently.

At the moment, I need to perform several tasks on large batches of images:

    • Resize images for different marketplaces

    • Compress images without losing too much quality

    • Remove backgrounds from product photos

    • Convert formats (JPG, PNG, WebP)

    • Optimize images for page speed
Doing this manually is becoming very time-consuming as the catalog grows.

I'm curious how other store owners and ecommerce managers handle this workflow.

    Do you use:

    • Desktop software?

    • WordPress/WooCommerce plugins?

    • Cloud services?

    • AI tools?

    • Custom scripts or automation?
I'd love to hear what tools or processes are working well for you, especially if you're managing hundreds or thousands of product images.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

Quick update in case it helps someone else.

After testing a few different approaches, I ended up using a WordPress plugin called RMBG PRO for the background removal part of the workflow.

What I liked is that I could process multiple product images directly from my WordPress media library instead of downloading and editing them one by one. For stores with a lot of products, that saved me quite a bit of time.

I'm still using other tools for image compression and resizing, but for bulk background removal this solution has worked well so far.

Has anyone compared different background removal tools for large WooCommerce catalogs? I'd be interested to hear what others are using and how they handle image optimization at scale.
