I Still Think Local-Language Domains Get Dismissed Too Quickly

A lot of domain conversations still seem to assume that the “default smart choice” must be something English-first, even when the actual audience clearly isn’t. That’s why I think local-language domains still get dismissed too quickly in end-user discussions. I’m not saying they’re the right fit for every brand, obviously, but in markets where language fit and memorability matter more than international neutrality, they often make more sense than people give them credit for.

Curious whether others here are seeing more genuine end-user use cases now, or whether most demand is still mainly investor-side.

I think many people still think traffic volume is best when they should probably be aiming for targeted traffic. It's the traffic you can convert that matters. If your target market is speaking Spanish, then a Spanish domain name makes sense. Maybe your niche has English-first aspirations, but for most real-world businesses, the best name will be one they don't have to try to remember.

Exactly. Targeted traffic usually matters more than raw traffic. The domain should match the language of the buyer, not just the language the owner thinks looks more "global."

I honestly think memorability matters way more in local markets than people in SEO forums sometimes admit. A domain that feels natural to native speakers can outperform a “cleaner” English-style brand just because it feels more familiar locally.

Agreed. If a local buyer has to stop and translate the name in their head, the domain is already doing extra work.
