I heard that many of ecom sellers started with offline projects. Is that right? Share your experience
First, you need to understand what e-commerce is. It’s basically selling products or services online, and you can do it through various platforms like Amazon, Shopify, or your own website. To start, you don’t need a huge amount of money, but having some funds is helpful. You could begin with a few hundred dollars to cover the basics like setting up a website, buying initial inventory, or paying for marketing. Skills you should learn include basic online marketing, how to manage an online store, and understanding how to handle customer service. You should also know a bit about shipping and managing inventory. What you should know is that it takes time to build up. You’ll need to be patient and ready to learn from mistakes. Keep track of what works and what doesn’t, and don’t be afraid to ask for help or look for advice.
That’s actually pretty common. A lot of ecom sellers I’ve come across started with offline projects or some kind of side business before moving online. In my case I’ve tried a few different ecommerce platforms over time and each one taught me something different some were easier for getting started like on sellvia while others were better for scaling like shopify. So I think having some offline experience can definitely help but it’s not a must for sure. Ecommerce can still be a good path even if you’re starting not from total zero as every business project
