I need a directory built on my website but one that I could put in a section on my website like keebi.u.com/directory one that doesn't take up the entire website and one that need need to be on the main page any recommendations
There are a few directory plugins for wordpress and there's no reason why it couldn't be in a subdirectory. Things to consider Is the directory going to be internal listings or will you be taking submissions from the public? Will you be requiring reciprocal links? Will you be charging for listings? Will the listings expire and need to be renewed? How much time do you want to spend managing the directory? How much disk space do you want to commit to the directory - will you let people upload images and video? How much control over the look and feel of the directory do you want? Then there's the standard wordpress plugin stuff how well maintained is the plugin? is there a community for the plugin? do I have the skills to edit the plugin to suit my needs? how much am I prepared to pay for the plugin?
one that I can over control my admins and bonus features like Points so I can give stuff away free but the first feature is most important
thanks I already tried most of them but I might reinstall on a test site so I don't accidentally break my website I just need as a section /directory like a popular dmoz website I might make it free at the beginning then premium later
Just remember that the directory value (to the owner) comes in the admin tools - deduping, spam bot detection, subscription management. Don't be too wowed by the front end.
I guess you want to separate the main website and the directory, in that case you simply need to intall the directory on a subdomain, which means another Wordpress installation. You can add links to help user navigating from one to another.
For a wordpress plugin with the complexity of the old dmoz directory? How about you tell us about the ones you've reviewed/tested already and why they fell short of your requirements.
